Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was arguably the most well-loved Christian preacher and author of the 20th century, as he did so much to enlighten and motivate our society and culture in the post-war era. His life was truly a blessing to us all. The Positive Thinking Bible was published after he passed on, but the breezy CEV translation combined with dozens upon dozens of comments, prayers and lessons by Dr. Peale sprinkled throughout the text make this one of the most enjoyable Bibles I've encountered in my seven years of ministry. I can share passages (and Peale's corresponding commentaries) with the Bible-weary, and for a change, have them actually *enjoy* scripture studies! Further, as one who believes in a positive and affirming approach to Christianity, I find motivation and encouragement here for myself. I would recommend this version to anyone who appreciates that the Bible is a book full of motivational power. God bless you, Dr. Peale!

The stories of personal experiences from Peale are relative to the scripture. The text is clearly given. The paragraph's named "Life Lifters" do just that and will lift your spirit and focus on life. Out of several versions and narrations I have read, this is the best Bible I have found that is personally inspiring and send as gifts to my friends.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale revolutionized the way we apply Christian principles to our daily life. Peale, in conjunction with the highly enjoyable CEV text, will give you a jolt of life affirming faith. This is the kind of Christian psychology that rescued a more rugged generation of people from despair. We now live in a time where Peale's thoughts are even more applicable. The life lifters, prayers and mini-sermons throughout this text will make Bible reading an absolute joy. It ends up being hard to put down, like a paperback novel. Norman Vincent Peale will always be remembered for his unflagging optimism and his faith in God and the human spirit. He was not a candy coater, he was a realist who understood that God gave humans the capacity to change and grow through Christ. This Bible is another chapter in the God uses Peale legacy. It's now out of print. So, if it's listed here used, buy it. If it's expensive, save the extra money and buy it. It's worth it.

I am a bit negative with this Bible in that, sadly, I have found some of the mini-sermons contained in it that I think are irrelevant with the Bible text in the same pages. It may be because this Bible was published years after the Rev. Norman Vincent Peale passed away, and so it is likely that he was not involved in the process of editing and checking this Bible by himself.

But other than that, I think that this is very positive indeed. Are there any other English Bibles like this one that have such motivating mini-sermons, life-lifters, and prayer texts? I wish I knew...

This book is an easy to read and understand version of the bible which relates today with the bible . With some fantastic pieces injected into the pages written by Norman Vincent Peale are personal experiences he had which relates directly with the Bible verse. I would recommend this Bible to everyone of any age. "Positive Thinking Bible".
