Positively Awesome!,
This review is from: Positively Page: The Diamond Dallas Page Journey (Hardcover)
I have to admit, I never really was a DDP fan. I remember watching DDP rising through the ranks in WCW a few years back and saying to myself, "Why is WCW pushing this guy? Who is this guy?" But after reading The Rock's and Mick Foley's books, I decided to buy DDP's book, as my thirst for more insight into the world of wrestling continued to grow. My attitude towards DDP quickly changed as I was introduced to the trials and tribulations of DDP's road to wrestling. This man is truly an inspiration not only to wrestling fans, but to anyone who has ever had a dream to succeed in life. DDP's will to overcome negatives from the bottom of the Yo-Yo and turn them into positives is remarkable. 'Positively Page' is a gem of a book and I enjoyed every page of it. DDP's will to overcome his reading disability and then write his own book is beyond words. After reading 'Positively Page,' am I now a DDP mark? Positively yes! Thank you for the inspiration DDP. In conclusion, to quote DDP, "The pleasure was all yours!" BANG! Chris

Diamond Dallas Page really is the man...,
This review is from: Positively Page: The Diamond Dallas Page Journey (Hardcover)
I may be one of the few that remember seeing page on the old Florida Championship Wrestling Show. Even then something about him left an impression on me. When he reemerged on the scene in WCW a few years ago I was immediately drawn in by his arrogant, over the top self reliance. When he hit it big with the Diamond Cutter heard round the world on Scott Hall a couple of years ago, I became a fan for life. In this day and age, who would have thought that a professional wrestler would be a good role model? This book entails everything that I admire about Page. His self reliance, His refusal to quit in the face of adversity, and above all his commitment to the people who support him week in and week out. This book is not just a biography, it's an inspirational and motivational story of someone who has worked for everything he has. If you read this book and don't get excited and pumped up about following your dreams, nothing will. Buy the book, and encourage everyone you know to do the same. FEEL THE BANG!

This is a biased review. I'm gonna "mark out" on an old friend, but if you can't support your buddies, then what kinda buddy are you? This is a great read for any wrestling fan. Provides a great perspective of what goes on "behind the curtain" in the WCW and what it takes to become a "Main Event" wrestler. It's a real metaphor for life in any other avenue, be it getting a good idea past the mind numbing middle management morons in Corporate America or accomplishing a personal dream. Smokey (the author) has really done a great job of structuring the story of a guy who has lead, by any measure, a most unstructured life. From the Page perspective, his book illustrates the power of personal conviction, what a person can do to overcome obstacles that life throws at them. Even if some obstacles are occasionally self inflicted, Page demonstrates how he overcame some bad habits, refused negative thinking, demonstrated the ability, and if I may, the humility to admit his mistakes and reinvent himself. That's right... I used "humility" to describe an attribute of Page Falkinburg. Bottom line, it's a great motivational book, not by preaching, but by relating personal defeats, setbacks and victories by example. You can't help but to pick up on the energy level of Page. It's been a long ride from the dart games at the Moby, hey buddy?

This book will change your opinion of DDP,

I was never a big Diamond Dallas Page fan. I have followed him since his beginnings with FCW. I have enjoyed watching him but not was too crazy about him. Maybe he sold me into his gimmick. I bought the book because I am very interested in the world outside the ring and the stuggles it takes to make in the sport. After reading this book, I am definately a 'mark' for the man, Page Falkenburg and a new found respect for the wrestler, DDP. This is a very interesting book and very well written. I like the way it was written with all the inputs of other people in his life. To me, this book is right up there with Mick Foley's book and better than the Rock's. It is well worth reading. Page Falkenburg is definately, one special person.

In a time when too many people are making excuses, claiming to be victomived product of society, not taking responisibility for their actions or in actions. Here is a man who was dealt a tough hand in life. Through hard work, strong work ethic, Positive mental attitude plus the ability to have positive interactions with others has become sucessful. Page never claimed to be a "saint", but has many charactistics that should be emulated. Through many "set backs" he shows perserverance pays off. This is the best book I have read this year!

Way To Go Champ,
This review is from: Positively Page: The Diamond Dallas Page Journey (Hardcover)
I just finished reading the book and wanted to let you guys know how much I loved it. I've been a fan of wrestling for at least 15 years and remember Page from his AWA days. I'm not gonna lie and say I've always been a fan of DDP's b/c i haven't. For some reason, I could never get into his character, but you can't deny his work ethic, passion or heart. After reading the book, my love, respect, and appreciation for Page rose to new levels. I fell in love with his confidence, his passion for wrestling and life, his heart of gold, his never say never attitude; I fell in love with Page. For the wrestling fans, Positively Page is a great look into the life of Page and the journey to the top of the game. For the nonwrestling fans, it's a book about a man overcoming all the odds to achieve his dream. It's one of those books you can read over and over and learn something new or take something from it everytime you read it. Way to go champ :)

I'll be the first to admit that I always like Diamond Dallad Page, mostly because of his extremely hard work ethic, so I bought the book with great expectations. Fortunately, it pretty much lived up to them. To be honest, I actually enjoyed the first part of his book (the section on his night club managing days) more than the wrestling years section. Page constantly had to overcome adversity, and he relays this throughout the entire book. The writing has a really nice flow to it, and I like the different fonts for each respective speaker. Sometimes, this got a little confusing, but overall, it was used quite nicely. I like the fact that there was a lot of depth to his stories, and he refered back to certain ones throughout the book, when it was needed. In the wrestling section, he probably could have used more detail the strategy involved in planning out the matches and feuds, but, overall, it was a very entertaining book, and a pretty good read. You'll have fun reading Diamond Dallas Page's "yo-yo" story.

DDP will undoubtably be the next motivational guru. From the beginning of this book you get the feeling it will be something special. You will not be disapointed. I could not put the book down and finished it in one night. Written in a unique first second and third person style it puts wrestling's bad or good boy right in the chair with you. After reading Positively Page I felt like I lived the story with the "boys". DDP is an inspiration to all those that are shooting for the stars. Great book and a MUST read! Way to go Page.

Just like the man himself, Diamond Dallas Page, said, you'll never forget him after reading this book. Sure, wrestling is fake. I know that. So's everything else on TV. But the injuries are real, and that's something Diamond Dallas Page talks about in this book. From the broken arm he sustained that took him out for months, to the time in his childhood when he was hit by a car, he took every negative, and turned it into a positive. Hit by a car? He became the lead scorer on his school's basketball team, because he practiced standing there and shooting. Broken arm? He studied videotape of himself for months, and polished up his ring game. Page's trip through his life is a very inspirational one, from his days owning bars and clubs, to being the best manager of a wrestler around, to doing the impossible, and becoming the THREE-TIME...THREE-TIME...THREE-TIME World Heavyweight Champion of WCW. Like a yo-yo, Page's journey has it's ups and down, it's dips and it's returns, but Page always finds a way to bounce back from adversity. I hope you buy this book, and find its tale helpful to your life. Once you open this book, you will feel the BANG! and you will feel the true-life story of a hero, a legend, and a great man.

Pretty good book up until he wrote about the NWO angle then he dropped Kayfabe and treated the story line as if it were a real event. Very disappointing. It was also too much to read everyone and their brother say how great Dallas is. One or two testimonials would have been fine. Overall good story, neat person, lousy writing.
