Interesting!,
This review is from: Possessed by Ghosts: Exorcisms in the 21 Century (Hardcover)
There are times when I am asked to read and review a work that I know I must put my own personal beliefs aside to be fair in my review, this was the case with the work "Possessed By Ghosts." Although I certainly do feel we are influences by those of the spirit realm, my take on whom or what we are dealing with is a little different than our authors. Nevertheless, her work was intriguing, interesting, well written and I sensed a sincere desire to help mankind as I read her book. That is always refreshing.
"Possessed By Ghosts," written by renowned exorcist and healer, Wanda Pratnicka is a work where our author opens her heart to you, and shares many years of her experience with freeing not only those troubled by ghosts, but the ghosts themselves.. Bridging this world with the next, she explains how she believes those departed influence our lives and often cause sickness and mishap. She gives testimonies and tells of different circumstances where this has occurred, taking time to answer the questions, you the reader, are sure to have. Carefully explaining her position as an exorcist and healer; Ms. Pratnicka offers solutions to these difficulties. I believe we all have had some experience with those that we cannot see, even if we are not quick to admit it. In this work, Wanda Pratnicka offers you her answer to who these intruders from the spiritual side are, exactly what they are doing, and what you can do about it. Perhaps your answer lies within the pages of this work. You decide. Shirley Johnson Senior Reviewer MidWest Book Review

I have been researching the paranormal for many many years. I have tons of information that I have collected. Wanda Pratnicka, in my opiion, is very authentic. If I could only keep a half a dozen of my books on this subject, Possessed by ghosts would be included. It is written in a way that you won't have to sit with a dictionary to make sense of it. Everyone should read it because there are many people who are possessed by spirits, and don't realize it.

The truth that can help to many,

This review is from: Possessed by Ghosts: Exorcisms in the 21 Century (Hardcover)
The book for everyone who is suffering from depressive states
or mental illness and needs healing. The book for everyone who is looking for the spiritual enlightment. And a simple must read for a doctor, healer, counselor, and a medical school student. What should we expect after the death, where we will go, how can we heal the pain after the death of the loved one, how can we help our troubled family members and kids. What do we have to consider before the medical operation. What can come into our lives from the invisible word of ghosts and aren't they our dead relatives living in our body. A beautiful book where you can find the answers. So many educated people would never consider it to be the truth.

Very informative, interesting and a lot of truth.,
This review is from: Possessed by Ghosts: Exorcisms in the 21 Century (Hardcover)
I think what impressed me the most about this author is her sincere love for people and those who have already died but haven't been able for different reasons to leave this world for the next. I believe most of what she has written is true and does happen everyday.
What readers need to realize is that all the different things shes explains about ghosts causing problems etc. is an accumulation of years of work and yes, that's her job. So what I'm saying is that just because someone is an alcoholic, it's not always because a ghost is giving him trouble. What she is saying is true, but I think some readers may make the mistake thinking that shes saying that it's always like that. I would say for the majority of problems such as alcoholism etc. it's probably less the case of ghosts & more the case of human weakness, sin, physical conditions and so on. But it still holds very true that it happens enough that it's good to be aware that it can be caused by a ghost. There's one issue that the author mentions that I don't agree on, and that's about demons not being real. I personally believe that demons try to stay away from her because of her natural God given ability to communicate with spirits, and also protection for the Lord. Maybe the demons and departed spirits work on a different spiritual plane (like frequency) and she's only given the ability to see the plane that she needs to? The Bible's very clear about the Devil & the angels that followed him in rebellion. When someone is possessed, I agree with the author about it very often being a departed spirit, but we can't be naive about Satan's demons also. So if you're a Christian and come across this section, don't stop reading the book because of this one issue. Not any one person knows the full truth about how the spirit dimension works. It's a good thing to weigh all of what we learn now with what we know the Bible says. Overall this book is a real must-read for those who want to know more about how spirits influence us. And how we can help our loved ones not to be trapped "in-between" worlds.

First I'll write about what I liked about this book. The author understands how our world and the spiritual world intermesh daily and in a very close range, thus permitting circumstances where entity attachment can take place. She also explains in her book the very real psychology in persons who have been victims so long that when they're offered a way out they refuse it for themselves or a family member because their "comfort zone" is in this state of confusion and/or suffering etc. Lastly she mentions in the last part of the book the Catholic church's retinence in discussing much less performing exorcisms and the manipulation of the bible. That being said, there was much that wasn't explained. In the first part of the book the author describes her ability to see spirits as a young child. She identifies herself as a psychic, medium, medical intuitive and lastly exorcist, but how did she gain her experiene and training and end up doing this as an adult? There is nothing mentioned about formal education, etc. She makes it seem that she is the only one qualified to do this work, and possibly 4 other persons in Poland (their names were never given out, so I'll assume they're not her colleagues and they'll have to do their own publicity), because even other healers and mediums come to her for help. She never describes her process for releasing these spirits, even though it seems she does it remotely, but obviously she doesn't cross them over, because many time they return. You get the feeling that she keeps all this information like a well guarded secret in case she might produce competitors. Don't look for examples or instructions like those provided by Dr. William Baldwin, Dr. Irene Hickman or Dr. Louise Ireland-Frey. You'll find none here. The book many times was repetitive and once a regression was referred to as a seance. Also everyone suffered from outright possession, there were no lesser degrees such as influence or obsession. The premise of the book promised much but it ends up being a product packaged and worded outwardly for the hype.

So-So,
By
This review is from: Possessed by Ghosts: Exorcisms in the 21 Century (Hardcover)
I was disappointed in this book, thinking it would have more to do with traditional possession. What the author writes about has more to do with blaming ghosts for every ill that befalls man. It got to be a bit much for me when the author blames alcoholism on the ghosts of previous alcoholics. The book does have some interesting theories, and some I can see being reasonable, but there are so many over the top theories here that I just couldn't finish it.

Pseudo-Science,

As a boy I was fascinated by the stories about Daniel Douglas Hume, the psychic, and I have been a student of ghosts and demons ever since. However I have not taken leave of my senses; I still have objective intelligence and I search for individuals or literature that are game to explore the paranormal with a modicum of intelligence and open mindedness. This book by Wanda P is not to my liking: it is all anecdotal and dogmatic. Students of the subject of ghosts and demons etc. would do well to read Michael J. Cuneo's EXORCISMS IN THE LAND OF PLENTY, in which a lot is said about the kind of people who believe in such things and are easily deceived; he even brings out the fact that many such believers are victims of childhood sexual abuse. A similar thought is implied in Carter Gregory's THE FOURTH WATCH OF THE NIGHT, in which he studies the 1949 St. Louis exorcism and brings to light the influence of a ouija board and the victim's predator aunt. The book is also illuminating in that it offers a sound scientific explanation of the possession phenomenon.
