Foreword by the renown C. Peter Wagner. Intercessory prayer involves praying to God that specific evils will be defeated and that Good may triumph. Such Christian prayer groups are springing up across the nation, says the author. I recall an old saying that goes, "more has been wrought by prayer than the world knows." This is a valuable 271-page training manual for militant (aggressive) intercessory prayer by those saints who want to join the battle against evil. The author is the president of a Christian missionary organization dedicated to prayer and spiritual warfare. Cindy explains intercessory prayer definitions such as loosing and binding, supplications, breaking a yoke, tearing down strongholds, and much more, as well as providing valuable discussion, advice, case history, and much "how to" information. There is an excellent suggested reading list, index and a new study guide with group discussion questions. Whether a beginner pray-er, or an experienced intercessory prayer warrior, the book will be a valuable addition to your spiritual warfare library or the text in an intercessory prayer study course. Highly recommended.

As Dr. C. Peter Wagner said in the forward of this book, this is not milk but meat for mature Christians. When I read this book about five years ago for the first time, I could hardly understand anything Cindy had explained. About two years ago I took the book off the shelf and read it again. Now every word struck my spirit. I started to understand what prayer really is. I have read this book more than five times now and every time I find new truth and the power of prayer. If you want to be more mature in your prayer life, you shouldn�ft miss this book

Before I read this book, I would have to say that my intercessory skills just barely scratched the surface - With the help of God through Cindy Jacobs in this book, I wage the prayer battle more effectively, hearing & praying the Lord's heart, and knowing when He is calling for prayer battle. I have also learned to understand the spiritual gifts that I have been given, and how to use them in Intercession. Thank you Cindy for sharing what God has poured into you with the world.

I found this book to be very helpful on the area of prayer/intercession. There are not many books which actually touch the topics that she discusses. It is written very clearly and she gives many examples, Bible scriptures plus personal experiences of hers or others to back up what she has said.

"Possessing the Gates" is not a book for someone who has a sceptical or critical heart about this area. It is a book to equip and instruct those who know or feel that they have a calling or gifting in the area of intercession.

I always had a heart for prayer. But, recently, my prayer life was moving to a more intense level. I had "urges" to pray for different situations and people. I didn't understand this and prayed to God for understanding. I knew of Cindy Jacobs as a intercessor and decided to read information about her books on Amazon. I bought this book first based on the recommendations. To my surprise, and I am not a fast reader, I thought this was a fast read. There was so much information, I plan to read again. Jacobs scripturely backs her chapters in the book. I plan to do my own study in the Word starting with her scripture references. This book has, perhaps, helped me to understand a "calling" and teaches me weapons to use in intercession. Great Book! Thanks!

After reading this book, I knew why my prayers had not been answered. It was because I needed to understand the most important point of the entire book: "The Clean Heart Principle." By understanding my need to DAILY search the motives of my heart as well as confess my sin; I began to see answers to my prayers. Before I read this book I was practically the only one that would show up for the weekly prayer service. After I had understanding, I began to pray for others to join me. NOW, there are more there for Intercessory Prayer than there are for Choir Rehearsal! I thank God for pioneers like Cindy, who share their weaknesses as well as their strengths, that the Body Of Christ may MATURE. Where there is no vision (understanding) the people perish; where there is vision, VICTORY FOLLOWS!

Ms. Jacobs' book is an excellent resource for intercessors and intercessory prayer group leaders. In fact, it is a "must read" for the latter as it contains a wealth of advice on how best to form and, for lack of a better word, manage such a group through the various stages of growth.

I would highly recommend that you pair Ms. Jabobs' book with another by Dutch Sheets - "Intercessory Prayer" (ISBN #0830719008).

Cindy's book is a wealth of information on prayer and intercession. It covers everything from the call to intercede to conducting "spiritual mapping" and praying to break strongholds over your city. This book is a definite for intercessors, as well for pastors and other spiritual leaders to understand the depth involved in spiritual warfare.

This is a good book on prayer and lends itself well to a small group study. It's well written and full of interesting approaches to prayer. It also defines a lot of common terms that many of us find confusing - standing in agreement, binding and loosening, bringing down strongholds, etc. Overall, a good book to keep and study.

This book really opens your eyes and introduces one to the realm of intercession. It is straightforward, simple, and well-put-together.
