A return to entertaining stories,
By Magik (Tyler, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All Possible Worlds science fiction & fantasy - Vol. 1 No. 1 (Paperback)
Science fiction magazines used to be plentiful and entertaining. These days only the barest handful remain and the few that do seem bent on offering highbrow stories that leave the mainstream reader puzzled at best and bored at worst.
How nice to see a magazine that doesn't try to do anything other than offer good, entertaining stories. It reminds me of the old days of Galaxy Magazine at its height. The stories here range from the solid (Save A Dance For The Plowman by Justin Stanchfield) to the spectacular (A Snowball's Chance by Kurt Kirchmeier). They are a little light on the "hard" sci fi, but then, Analog seems to have a corner on that market. Still, if you are looking for a pleasant afternoon of reading, this magazine is off to a great start. |
