4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, could be better though
giving this record a perfect 5 is insane. Even a 4 is being slightly generous. Amber pacific aren't doing anything that everyone else isn't doing right now, and their vocalist isn't as sharp as everyone gives him credit for being. The music could be a little more innovative as well. These guys are pretty much your typical pop-punk; catchy guitars and hooks, good lyrics...

3.0 out of 5 stars Well, you see.
Discovered through means unknown, I just know it was ages ago. (So hah! Discovered them before all of you! xP Yeah, not through a Warped Tour CD.) I was here when they had what's-his-name. They don't seem to retain the same sound as their previous album. It's rather depressing, but s'okay. I wouldn't say the album is bad, it shows improvement, but really...

The music could be a little more innovative as well. These guys are pretty much your typical pop-punk; catchy guitars and hooks, good lyrics and a fast, no bulls**t sound. The production and mixing isn't great, but thats to be expected with a low-budget indie label. In all honesty, there is much better out there, but if you've already heard everything coming from this scene, amber pacific's "the possibility and the promise" is worth a listen. Just don't expect to be blown away. For that, you'll need to pick up TheAUDITION's new record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure, pop-punk infected, heart-wrenching emo nectar, January 21, 2006

Drink up kids. This is good stuff.

The lyrics and vocals really drive this band, as Matt Young really knows how to mix pleading intensity with melodic range. In the background is a mix of fast guitar riffage and mellow driving drumming. It's definitely got a dose of alkaline trio, and seems alot like matchbook romance in its approach. But while matchbook drowns you in emotional-crunch, Amber Pacific kind of leaves on a good note- sort of like watching a sunrise.

The truly impressive achievement is the mixture this band has between romantic, teeny-bopper pang in a true Yellowcard style- and a patience and build which really keeps the emotion going. Not particularly complicated, but if you have ever felt truly confused, like you were about to cry for no reason or just generally felt really, really angsty-- this is without a doubt the band for you.

Relax, let go, forget trying to figure out all this indie bunk and let yourself be bathed in the emoness...

5.0 out of 5 stars If you dont know Amber Pacific, you should, May 27, 2005
This review is from: Possiblity & The Promise (Audio CD)
After hearing Fading Days I had to get The Possibility and the Promise. It's different from their earlier stuff but it is still great. Its a little more fast-paced but the songs are different in a good way. The one thing I was not happy with was thier remake of Always You, but everything else was a good listen. My favorites have to be If I Fall(slower and a lot like their earlier stuff) and Gone So Young. They have held up the great tradition of music to come out of Seattle. Buy this album, I have a feeling these guys are gonna do well

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Cd, June 16, 2005

After coming across Amber Pacific last week, I decided that I liked what I heard and went out and bought both their EP (Fading Days) and their debut album. I must say that when I first heard this album, I loved it. But after listening to it over and over and over...I love it even more than before. This album is filled with great lyrics and great vocals, each song has enough range in between them to make me happy too. Amber Pacific is climbing my list of favorite bands very quickly. They are now up there with Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Anberlin, Halifax, and Anadivine.

Go out and get this CD and you will most likely not be dissapointed, they are a great band that will only get better. I am looking forward to their next release.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best. . .Ever, September 29, 2005

This CD is soooooo freaking amazing!!!!! I heard about Amber Pacific from a friend of mine, he had me listen to "always you" - the EP version. Since i first heard that song, i couldn't get enough of them. I got "The Possibility and the Promise" and to this day, I listen to the whole thing -- i never get sick of it. Amber Pacific is really amazing!! Their talent is. . .WOW. . . and the lyrics are so powerful!!! I love "If I Fall" - it's gotta be one of my all-time favorite songs!!!
Can't wait for the next CD, and i hope they're in my area soon - so i can see them!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars But Mom, It's not screaming, July 14, 2005
This review is from: Possiblity & The Promise (Audio CD)
This band is really underground right now. It's hard to compare them to anyone else. The best would be Anberlin and Brand New. Brand New was my favorite band, but these guys are better. Amber Pacific has the best drums since Phil Collins and Matchbook Romance. One thing I wasn't sure about were the guitars. Not too many solos in this album, but the guitars are good. The vocals make A.P. stick out as a band that sounds different from all other bands. The lead vocals are deep mostly, and there is no screaming through the whole cd. But still all you older people out there that might read this....don't listen to me because this is still probably not your kind of music. Oh and there is this one nice really soft piano song on this album. Even my Mom said it was ok. I don't expect these guys to hit the shelves in Wally World any time soon but spend however much money you need to buy this album.

All In All:--Drums-Outstanding. Very fast paced, won't dissapoint Ska fans either. Go well with lead vocals.
Guitars-they're good. They're very catchy. I just wishthere were more.
Vocals-This is what should make you want to go buy this cd. Deep, he can hold a note, no screaming, the lyrics are done great, very catchy songs, um...This guy has talent. I can't wait untill Amber Pacific comes out with another album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amber Pacific..., July 7, 2005

Well I found out about this band by playing Burnout 3 on xbox and hearing "Always You". I loved it and went and bought the EP Fading Days and loved it. Now 5 days ago I found there album and I havnt stopped listening to it. I have read previous reviews siting that these guys could be the future of pop punk/emo like blink and green day were in the 90s,well I support that and I'm a huge fan of them(blink) and I strongly beleve this band will/should acheive what blink, green day and so many others have done and that is making an impact with a distinct sound and also bringing something new. These guys dont sound like all the other pop punk/emo bands. My favourite song on the album would have to be "The Right to Write Me Off" the re recorded version of "Always You (Good Times)" is really cool.I didnt like it at first but now I find myself listening to it more then the EP version. Buy both Fading Days and The Possibility and The Promise, you wont be dissapointed,i think these guys are going somewhere good.
