I bought this little scale on sight years ago, [...]. The price has gone up...but the design remains delightfully the same. It is useful, handy, absolutely accurate, and of futuristic, and highly decorative, design!

Small enough to fit in the palm of a 12-year-old's hand, this is a great postal scale for anyone, of any age -- and of any country! It measures up to a four-ounce weight, (and the equivalent in millilitres on the other side of the semi-circular weight scale), with engraved markings...in 1/16 ounce increments. One simply spreads apart the clothes-pin like gripping device at the far end of the scale, places whatever is to be weighed within the tongs, and checks the weight of the object, holding on to the circular piece at the top!

My one complaint about this device is that it ONLY weighs up to 4 ounces, (and he equivalent in milliliters.) I wish there were larger sizes, to weigh 5, or even 10 pounds.

The "bounus surprise" that comes with this handy, (and dandy!), litle scale is that, when held up, so that a SIDE VIEW can be seen, ONE SIDE WILL DEFINITELY SEEM A TINY, REASONABLE-FACIMILIE REPLICA OF THE STARSHIP ENTERPRISE! Well, not an exact replica of the "Enterprise", perhaps....but certainly one of the Enterprise's "sister" starships!
Even looking at the picture of the scale as presented here on Amazon, (flat), one can, I believe, easily see how this illusion can be obtained.

Easy to carry, easy to use....this may, in fact, actually become the "4 ounce and under" Postal Scale of the Future! Wow -- a pocket postal scale that also stimulates the imaginatin! Terrific! I can only hope that larger models, accomodating 5 or 10 pounds, (analogous to the larger "Enterprise" ships, featured in "ST: The Next Generation", "ST: DS 9", and "ST: Entrprise"), will also some day be made!

The Scale is cheap and does it's job. However, when you hook up an item to take a measurement, you have to play around with the clip so that the item being weighed does not hit the scale.

From the other reviews, I can only assume that I got a defective scale. It reads between 1.5 and 2 times the value I get from a digital postal scale as well as another brand of handheld scale that is very similar to this one.

For me, it was a total waste of money since I can't trust it at all. If the error is not linear, then I can not even cut the reading in half to make an estimate.

It is not worth my time to return the item, so in the trash it went.

This little gem saves me going to the PO to find out if extra postage is required. It's quick and accurate.

for the money they work great. Of the three I bought mine seams to be right on the weight. I gave the others to friends, no complants.

I've been using one for many years -- I ordered this one to give a family member. Whenever I am in doubt as to whether I am over an ounce and might need extra postage, I weigh the letter and know immediately. It's so easy! I just put the clip (like a clothespin) on the edge of the letter and lift it up holding the ring. It will weigh letters up to 4 ounces. It's so small it takes very little space -- I store it with the stamps.

I travel in a motorhome quite a bit. This Postal Scale is really nice when I have something to mail that is a little more weight than for normal postage.

This little device is simple to use and accurate enough for weighing envelopes. It's small, portable and looks cool too. If you want higher tech or greater weight scale, get the OXO Good Grips scale. But for deciding how much postage to stick on an envelope, this is all you need.

The scale is fine for my small business, the only thing that I did not
think was okay was the shipping was more than the item.

It's a great little handheld postal scale, which I had bought previously in a local stationery store. I never received my order from this seller, despite several contacts. The money (<$10) was not the issue. Seller unreliable!
