5.0 out of 5 stars Sitz bath heaven, January 7, 2008
By
Mama Jenn (Horsham, PA USA) - See all my reviews
My midwife recommended I buy sitz bath herbs for after my baby was born (Oct '06), and I chose these. They provided a welcome soothing remedy for my sore bottom. Granted my memory is a little fuzzy about the specifics, over a year later, but I do remember liking these and I'm confident I'll buy them again, next time around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it as an OB Nurse AND a MOM!!!, July 26, 2011
This review is from: Postpartum Bath Herbs 4 Ounces (Misc.)
I have been an OB nurse for over 12 years, and I am also a certified doula, certified childbirth educator and IBCLC lactation consultant. While I never really learned the value of such things as herbs and poultices in nursing school, the same inquisitiveness that led me to seek all those extra certifications led me to find a way to comfort myself after the birth experience.

I started researching herbs and poultices when pregnant with my daughter four years ago and stumbled upon a few different brands. I looked up each separate ingredient and researched the herbal properties. The Earth Mama blend of postpartum herbs seemed to include the best recipe of all those I had seen, so I ordered it. I loved the idea of adding it to the sitz baz or creating a poultice, but what I liked even more was a suggestion I found on a home remedy website:

-Steep the tea bags as directed to create the solution and allow to cool.
-Dip several maxi pads into the solution until saturated and place on wax paper lined cookie sheet.
-Freeze.
-Place on your bottom in the first 0-48 hours after birth to reduce swelling and promote comfort.

After the first 48 hours, I warmed the pads or used the herbs in a warm sitz bath to encourage healing.

My daughter was my second child and I had some tearing with both--these made all the difference in the world!!! I am now expecting my 3 and 4th children (twins), and even though there is a chance I may have a c-section, I am ordering these and preparing the pads just in case. I won't take the chance of not having them--they are that good!

3.0 out of 5 stars Felt soothing but..., April 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Postpartum Bath Herbs 4 Ounces (Misc.)
Felt soothing to my boom boom, however, it disturbed my va-jay-jay while soaking. I'm extremely sensitive down there and all the fragrances and herbs proved to be too intense for kitty...However, if I didn't have the sensitivity issue I couldv'e easily seen myself award this stuff 4-5 stars..
