4.0 out of 5 stars Great conversation starter, that's not all
This book is great as a read on it's own or a conversation starter with friends. Want to know how to make a carrot pipe? What about making cannabutter? Not sure what kush is? This book will get you started on the never ending cannabis culture.

Generally an amusing and entertaining book but on pg. 27 there's an egregious error. "If the police ask to search your car we suppose you have no choice." When dealing with an illegal substance like pot such ignorance of the law is inexcusable. Of course you have a choice. NEVER, NEVER NEVER cooperate with the law. They are not your friends. This book is great as a read on it's own or a conversation starter with friends. Want to know how to make a carrot pipe? What about making cannabutter? Not sure what kush is? This book will get you started on the never ending cannabis culture.

The one downside to a book like this is it's lifespan. While i'm sure a lot of the information will be relevant for a long time to come some of it wont. With the development of new strains, smoking techniques, and slang the only way to be up on the jargon is to be a stoner yourself.

Honestly $14 for this book is a steal. So if you want to be educated on the stoner species or you just want something to stare at while your high this book should be in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pot Culture - Affirms Maturation of Cannabis Law Reform Movement, October 29, 2008
By
This review is from: Pot Culture: The A-Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life (Paperback)
Shirley Halperin and Steve Bloom have authored the definitively written and graphically-presented book in honor of pot culture. While most citizens, whether they relate personally to cannabis or not, can recognize North America's ironic cultural embrace for a substance banned by American and Canadian governments for 70 years, authors Halperin and Bloom's expertise and rich knowledge of cannabis' intersection with music, movies and television help readily guide even novice devotees of cannabis down a path of cultural and historical enlightenment.

The book is beautifully published and provides for a comprehensive tour of cannabis, entertainment, culture and the abject failure of cannabis prohibition in modern North America.

Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars So much of a variety!, April 26, 2008
This review is from: Pot Culture: The A-Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life (Paperback)
This book covers so much about pot culture. It is great to have around and just look through and read about anything you need to know about the culture. I love this book. I bought two copies when it first came out...one for me and one for my best friend. I've just ordered two more copies for two of my other friends. I consider it a must-have coffee table book for people into this type of stuff. There is such a great variety of information, from definitions to pages dedicated to great musicians, artists, and entertainers, to how-to guides.

I love books about Cannabis, Cultivation, Hash, basically anything drug related catches my interest, So this book was a must have for me. After seeing this book featured in one of my favorite shows "Weeds"(When Silas Starts working with his mom he is seen reading "pot Culture") I had to do some reasearch. When the book arrived at my door, For once I was hoping it wasn't "Playboy". "Pot Culture: The A - Z Guide to stoner language and life" the title meant to me that it was going to read like a dictionary of everything Ganja related. Well...After, consuming 2 space cakes, 6 Glass Bong hits, 2 shots of tanqueray and 10 chocolate chip cookies (no THC included) I started reading. To make a long story short this book missed out on a few terms that are very important but, wont interfere with the quality of this read. I loved the celebrity How-To-Do's with Redman, Rob Thomas, Jonah Hill, Steve-O and more. I really recommend purchasing this book for the Stoned and Un-stoned Reader.

I've only owned this book for a few weeks, and it's already adored by everyone I know.
It basically goes wherever my vaporizer goes, and it's constantly being leafed through.
It's a delightful read, chock full of fun facts, articles, slang, definitions, quotes, pictures, how-to's, inventions, devices, etc.
There's really too much in this book to list, just give it a go! You won't regret it.

It's lighthearted and entertaining, and it's sure to be a 'hit' with your 'buds' :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!, May 18, 2008
This review is from: Pot Culture: The A-Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life (Paperback)
I picked up this book as a gift for a friend. Now I'm not what one would call a "stoner". In fact, I can't remember the last time I smoked pot. I thumbed through it and got caught up in a really great read. I can only imagine how much better it would have been if I was a smoker, but it is a great fascinating and fun read for just about anyone. Loved it!
