4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting cookbook
Enjoyed this cookbook and its references to the Potluck Club series. A few ingredient sizes and instructions are missing, however, so I can't recommend it for the inexperienced or beginning cook. Tried a couple recipes so far with very good results!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Variety, I Found a Few that Will Become Part of My Recipe File
Well named cookbook that should appeal to the readers of the Potluck Club novel series.

I have a handful and a half of recipes that I plan to try or have tried.

24 Hour Coleslaw is fabulous and easy for those who like a vinegary coleslaw.

I had one recipe failure, Fudge Icing, which may have been user error (trust me, that happens)...

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use, September 27, 2009
This review is from: Potluck Club Cookbook, The: Easy Recipes to Enjoy with Family and Friends (Paperback)
Having just read my first Potluck Club book, I looked forward to reviewing the accompanying cookbook. It did not disappoint. The recipes are easy to follow using food items found in most kitchens, with encouraging side notes like, "We always made this dish following the holidays. What a great thing to do with your leftover turkey." and "Here's a no-bake, easy-to-make panful of yum." and "This is one of my husband's very favorite cakes!"

It's organized so that any cook can find a new eating adventure to try. At the end, "Meet the Authors" is an interesting question/answer segment that fans will appreciate. It would be fun for a book club to read a Potluck Club book and hold the discussion meeting with members creating recipes found in this cookbook.

Any new cook or young bride would appreciate this as a gift. In addition, we old (ahem!) veteran cooks will rediscover foods we've tasted at potluck dinners.

Well named cookbook that should appeal to the readers of the Potluck Club novel series.

24 Hour Coleslaw is fabulous and easy for those who like a vinegary coleslaw.

I had one recipe failure, Fudge Icing, which may have been user error (trust me, that happens).

Some of the other recipes out of the 125+ available I plan to make include: Shrimp Scampi, Oriental Skillet, Lemon Barbecued Chicken, French Toast Souffle, and Pasta Pizza Pie.

Most are party/gathering appropriate dishes. Some sound great for family dinners. A few use lower fat ingredients but many are full-fledged, full-fat potluck fare.

Recipe book collectors, Potluck Club fans and those looking for party dishes might want to check further into this cookbook. I'm giving it a three because I found less than 10 recipes I had to have.

3.0 out of 5 stars Come And Get It!, September 29, 2009
This review is from: Potluck Club Cookbook, The: Easy Recipes to Enjoy with Family and Friends (Paperback)

This companion cookbook to A Taste of Fame is good one for those looking to step away from the normal rotation of their cooking repertoire. Beginning cooks may find some of the recipes frustrating in that some of the portions servings and ingredients are missing.

3.0 out of 5 stars A versatile cookbook with easy recipes, September 25, 2009

A versatile cook book that will appeal to many people. All the recipes are easy and made from simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. The authors share their own dishes with little anecdotes about each recipe, as well as anecdotes about the Potluck Club book characters.

If I have any complaints it's that there are some inconsistencies: some recipes state how many servings, but others don't.

I am an avid cook and have well over 100 cookbooks. I've owned a restaurant (Toodles in Newport, TN) and stil do catering. This cookbook is by FAR at the top of my favorites list. The recipes are practical and can be used several times each week for different meals. I highly reccomend this book to beginners and pros alike. I also love the Potluck Club series, one of my favorite stories and I can't wait for the next book!

After reading the Potluck Club Cookbook Series I knew I had to have the cookbook. I ordered, I received, within a week. I have not had to time use the recipes yet, but they look like the ingredients are what I have on my shelves and are quick and easy.

Novelists Linda Evans Shepherd and Eva Marie Everson whipped up a cookbook of tasty and wide-ranging recipes which I highly recommend as a giftbook companion.

I especially like the personal cooking notes added by the authors, who give us glimpses into their faith walks as well as their expertise in the kitchen. Like the characters in A Taste of Fame, the authors come across as real and believable women -- nice touch, ladies!
