5.0 out of 5 stars I'm moving to Summitt View
Things are as exciting as ever in Summitt View,CO where the ladies of the Potluck Club are concerned. The ladies and their friends and family are people I would really like to know. I would really enjoy being a member of the club and be in on the action. I have read all three of the books in the series and they are great. I think that anyone who enjoys a good story about...

2.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic and Unappetizing (spoiler alert)
I really liked the first 2 books of this series, but this 3rd one just didn't do it for me. The fact that the cheater spouse of 30 years was welcomed back with open arms and a chuckle about the girlfriend's non-pregnancy really bothered me. The other relationships seemed a little too convenient, as well. I won't be purchasing #4. Not all relationships are worth...

I think that anyone who enjoys a good story about "just folks" would love this book. It is so easy to feel a part of the story. Trust me, read the Potluck Club series and you, too, will want more stories about the ladies and their friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars How I Love a Good Potluck, June 1, 2007
By
This third course of Potluck is good to the last bite. There's humor, fun and great secrets - revealed, plus heart-pounding danger and a fabulous wedding.

Not only that, but Deputy Donna gets that long-awaited kiss. Though I won't tell you which guy she falls for, for finding out is half the fun.

If you like the Mitford series, you'll love potluck - served in the wonderful Colorado mountain town of Summit View.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Potluck Club Takes the Cake ~ Reviewed, October 1, 2007
The church ladies live on, and if you liked the first two Potluck Club books, you'll love this one. I just know these ladies are members of my church, and if you look over your shoulder, you may see them in the pew behind you, too. The sometimes zany, sometimes crotchety, and sometimes out-of-control characters are always charming. Shepherd and Everson have delivered another fun-filled read with some unexpected results. Things I wanted to happen didn't, but it was okay. With surprises at each turn, this third book of the series does indeed Take the Cake! And the recipes are delicious, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back for More, July 18, 2007
The girls are back in the third novel in the Potluck Club series. There's a wedding in the works in Summit View! But before anyone can say I do, the women seem to attract many adventures coming their way. Evie's worried about tying the knot while Goldie is trying to resist fixing her relationship. Vonnie's trying to get used to being a new mother while Lizzie's having all her family descend on her at once. Donna seems to have the whole world throw its problems at her feet while Lisa Leann just wants to make everyone know that she's there. These women are all connected through their friendship and being there for each other when they need it the most.

Another taste tempting pleaser! I really really love this series. I really like all the different POVs from the characters. You would read about an event from Evie's outlook and then change characters and find out that Donna didn't see things the same way. I really felt for Donna in this book. So much stuff happened to her that I wished she had more story time. She's my favorite character out of the group. Lisa Leann is still a touch character to like but she's gotten better as she's learned how to deal with the other women. Even Evie finds herself giving in to Lisa Leann's demands. The only character whose story I didn't find satisfying was Lizzie's. She has her whole family in her house including her mother who she doesn't get along with but nothing really comes out of it. I would have liked to read more about that relationship. I got a hoot out of Clay becoming transformed to impress Donna. I can't believed he even got a manicure. But the results were definitely worth it for him even though he didn't plan that specific outcome. Reading this book definitely puts you in a good mood. I've grown really attached to these characters and am wanting more! Once again there are tons of recipes for all the yummy dishes that are mentioned. So if get hungry while reading, put the book down and start cooking and you'll be able to eat your words.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable read!, July 17, 2007
After losing sleep over the first two Potluck Club books, I couldn't wait to get my eyes on the third. Perhaps not quite the page-turner that the first two books are, I spent several evenings thoroughly enjoying the antics of these six delightfully "real" ladies.

I highly recommend starting with the first book (The Potluck Club) and working your way through the troubles, heartaches, and joys of the Potluckers. Each book builds upon the previous one, and your satisfaction will be tripled by devouring all three books.

The recipes are great too! If I ever decide to start cooking again I'm going to give them a try!

So fun to see the story of the Potluck Club continue. Many times later books in a series lose their punch but this book is as good as the first.
These stories always make me hungry. Can't wait for the story to continue.

5.0 out of 5 stars This third serving is a delicious hit for my book club, June 26, 2007

If you have a ladies book club and are looking for a fun series that will keep your friends coming back for seconds and thirds and fourths...the Potluck Club is it. From the first book which introduced us to six characters who were part of their own "prayer (gossip)" group, we learned that each lady of the club holds a secret that, if revealed, would forever change the flavor of life in Summit View. In the Potluck Club Take the Cake we really begin to see how the lives of the six women are coarsely blended because of their fallen natures. Although the books don't explicitely say it, it is easy to see the guiding hand of God as He mixes the ingredients from each character into the batter of life. My ladies book club was instantly taken by the tale weaved by Shepherd and Everson, perhaps because the women of Summit View are not that much different than some people we know (and perhaps not all that different than ourselves in some ways).

With each book we have grown to love the six ladies of the Potluck- Evangeline Benson's brood who mixes faith and gossip, prayer and humanity to bake a storyline that rivals any daytime soap. There is just enough fun and frivolity to keep it light for the members of your group who are looking for a little escape, and just enough depth and spiritual take-away for those who like a "moral to their stories." The hardest part about choosing the Potluck Club series for our book club is waiting for the next book to come out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner!, June 19, 2007
Linda Shepherd and Eva Marie Everson do it again! They continue to draw you into the lives of the six women of The Potluck Club. Some loose ends are tied up from their previous adventures in "Potluck Club" and "Trouble's Brewing" and some new things are revealed about these women. This book digs deeper into their lives and reveals more about them. And, just like the previous two books, you are left wanting more. Can't wait for the next book to come out!
