Harry Potter Electronic BASILISK Attack Action Figure Playset (Mattel 2002)

The toy is discribed as "Harry Potter Basilisk Playset". The only problem is that there is no Harry Potter that comes with the playset! In order to fight the Basilisk you need Harry Potter with his sword! The box has a very attactive picture of Harry Potter fighting the Basilisk; but in small print it says action figure must be purchased separately. The web site does not say "action figures must be purchased separately". ... By the way, read the small print, not all the action figures shown on the box go with the Basilisk Attack Playset, nor do they tell you which ones do! Youre left to figure out that yourself. ...

My main problem with this and other related toys is the necessity of purchasing separate action figures. I think the manufacturer could at least include the Harry Potter figure. Not only does this create added expense. It is often difficult to locate the accompanying figures, either in the same store or other stores. Otherwise, this is is fun toy for imagination and laughs.

This toy is good, my little brother liked it. He was just disapointed that it didn't come with the Harry Potter action figure. My little brother got a kick out of beating the snake especially because he just saw the movie, Harry Potter 2. The only bad thing is after a few tries, the head started having trouble falling to the side, like its supposed to when you hit its tongue. Of course, the is no educational value in cutting a snake's tongue, but I think that this is a pretty good toy.

My son really wanted this toy for Christmas, but i wasn't going to pay the $29.99 for it. I don't think it was worth that. Then when i found it for $19.99, i grabbed it, but i don't even think it's worth all that. The snake is really cool. My son just plays with that and not the whole setup. I went to set it up for him, but i wasn't impressed with the wall and foot slot for Harry and my son didn't care for it either. It's easier for him to just use the snake, so the rest of it sits in the box.

I got this for myself the other day and I think it's pretty neat. The Basilisk is pretty cool, but that's all that's good about this. I really don't care much that it doesn't come with Harry Potter, unless I want to put him in the Basilisk's mouth...teehee...I am usually treating my Basilisk as a model more than toy and leaving him on on my desk most of the time, since I'm a teen and just plain adore mythological creatures, after all. =)

My son wanted this so bad for xmas that it made the Santa list...we got it for him, but when he opened it xmas morning, all it does is hiss, you have to hold him forcebly with one hand while you push down his tail so his mouth will open. Then the only way to "kill" him is to touch a small lever in his mouth, or you can whap him with harrys sword (harry does not come with this, so make sure you have one..and not all figures hold the sword that comes with this, the sword that comes with the harry figure with the sword is to small..) after whapping him with the sword, he is supposed to fall over ..and turn off..meaning he died...ok...so is that fun?? i would have to say the coolest thing is the background..i wish the toy maker would make a castle play set for the larger figures..along the lines of a barbie house for boys! All in all the basillas is ok, a glorified and expensive action figure...

You NEED other figures to make this fun. It should just be labeled as a serpent because it is not truly a "playset" on it's own. My son had it on his Christmas list but was not happy with it and lost interest soon after opening it.

I think this playset is a very good toy,cause the basilisk is
very similar to the one in the movie,and is very fun and a very durable playset,it isn't dangerous cause it doesn't have little parts.I give it 5 stars.

This is the best harry potter toy there is! Although I really don't care about harry potter i just like the animals/creatures.The Basilisk is the best though. You can move his head side to side like he's dodging attacks. When he sits straight up he hisses for about five minutes to he shuts down. He also attacks by moving his head forward biting making a growling. This doesn't come with a figure but a sword(grifindor sword).When you hit his tongue from the bottom his jaw cracks open and he falls the ground. Even though he doesnt uncoil snakes don't attack straitened out.BUY IT NOW!!!!!

This game is awsome! there is a sink by the door that can open, there is a two-sided wall, one in the chamber of secrets, and on the other side are the halls. The Basilisk will roar when you pull its tail. I don't have the Harry Potter figure yet, but I usually use the sword by itself. If you want it to be cool you can open its mouth and put the sword under its tounge, and then you pull its tail and it falls to the floor. There are two holders that hold the two-sided wall. It's so good!
