From Booklist
Gr. 4-6. Since 1997, Benchmark Books has reprinted 19 volumes in Fisher's Colonial Craftsmen series. Originally published by Watts between 1964 and 1976 as the Colonial Americans series, these well-designed books have served generations of students looking for introductory material on occupations in colonial America. Hatters provides the history and the how-to details of the hat trade in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, while Potters explains the development of the stoneware craft during the same period. Fisher's striking black-and-white illustrations are more attractive and effective than most full-color pictures in today's nonfiction.
