5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Stones 11 Tracks (Amazing)
12 Stones have left their immature repetitive sound behind on their new album Potters Field. Potters Field is the album that will establish 12 Stones as a well known band. Each song is very diverse, and Paul Mccoys voice cant get any more soothing. Their lyrics have matured greatly with songs covering regret, strength, self esteem, finding inner peace and suicide. 3.0 out of 5 stars not quite as good as the first....
its amazing what a little publicity can do for a band. because of the entire evanescence stint and an emmy nomination, paul mccoy and 12 stones have been on the uprise to possible uber-stardom. this album was a bit dissapointing, because its a lot more pop sounding than the first one was.

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Stones 11 Tracks (Amazing), September 6, 2004
This review is from: Potter's Field (Audio CD)
12 Stones have left their immature repetitive sound behind on their new album Potters Field. Potters Field is the album that will establish 12 Stones as a well known band. Each song is very diverse, and Paul Mccoys voice cant get any more soothing. Their lyrics have matured greatly with songs covering regret, strength, self esteem, finding inner peace and suicide. Fans of Evanescence, AlterBridge, Audioslave, 3 doors down, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Hoobstank, Lit should feel right at home. Theres a good mix of hard hitting songs like "Far Away" "3 leaf Loser" and "Speak Your mind", and the slow beautiful songs like "Waiting for Yesterday" "Photograph" and the fan favorite atleast at the official message board "Stay." This album has something for everyone.

Shadows - 6/10 Not the greatest beginning for such a great album like Potters Field. This song has Paul screaming "Looking for something to believe I find the answer to fade." Nothing really great about this song.

Last Song - 9/10 Great song with soft verses, and hard hitting catchy chorus, the bridge will definatly get stuck in your head. You'll be walking around singing "I lose myself in everything you say" Great guitar solo.

Far Away - 8/10 One of the last choices I would of picked for 1st single. Hard hitting song with Great lyrics about feeling lost, and alone.

Speak Your Mind - 5/10 worst song on the album.

Lifeless - 9/10

Bitter - 8/10 Different for 12 stones, catchy verses finding Paul asking "Mother Mother can you hear me"

Photograph - 9/10 Touching song about suicide. Great guitar riff.

Leaf Loser - 6/10

Stay - 10/10 Most fans love this, it falls in the same territory as 3 doors down but not as poppy, plus Paul Mccoys voice is much better, great guitar riffs.

Waiting for Yesterday - 10/10 Best song on the album. Awesome hook awesome lyrics awesome singing style. The song is filled with hooks and not poppy lame hooks. The song is has a beautifully sung verses and some screaming during the choruses it really shows the range in Pauls voice. By far the best song

In Closing - 10/10 Great way to end the album you'll find the bridge stuck in your head "Nothing you will ever say"

All in All Great album one of the best released of the yr. CHECK IT OUT the last part of the album is much better than the first so dont judge from the clips on amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Stones 2nd release - a follow up success, June 26, 2005
By
This review is from: Potter's Field (Audio CD)
This is the band's follow up album to their debut self-titled album from 2002. And it is another successful enterprise by this self proclaimed Christian rock band. With this CD they have shackled off much of the 'Creed' sound that was most apparent in their first album. 12 Stones' have their own signature sound to their music now. And it's a evolution from Creed's own unique sound. The guitar riffs and jams are still their but now included is the steely voice of Paul McCoy who shows promise to be another Scott Stapp in lead vocals.
My favourite songs on this album were 'Far Away', 'Stay' and 'Waiting For Yesterday'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just waiting to breakout..., August 24, 2004

I kind of happened across 12 Stones. I was listening to Launch Yahoo radio one day on a computer that wasn't mine, and it was recommended to me from listeners of Switchfoot. The song I heard was "The Way I Feel" on their debut album. Needless to say, I thought it was great, so I got their first album and eagerly awaited their sophomore release. Well, it's here and it's just as good as the first. It's a bit rock and a bit punk...the lyrics are catchy after a couple listens, and the cd can be listened to from start to finish. I hope this is their breakout CD just like The Beautiful Letdown was for Switchfoot. Go buy it today!

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Stones rocks their sophomore release to new heights!, August 18, 2005

This review is from: Potter's Field (Audio CD)
12 Stones is an incredible band, but not only in the genre of Christian rock, but in the rock genre as a whole. The talent of the band really shines on this one: the awesome, heavy guitar riffs, sweet drum beats, and incredible lyrics and vocal talent of Paul McCoy (he has a great singing voice and screams a little bit when it's necessary in the context of the songs) really leave the listener in awe.

They really have an uplifting message for Christians and non-Christians alike that I truly appreciate, but they are definitely not afraid to show their faith in Christ with their incredible words. This band really cares about their listeners - which is also very inspiring.

This is really an incredible compilation of songs. "Far Away" is an incredible smash hit about the feelings and pain someone is going through as his/her friend has committed suicide..... it is truly an intense and heartbreaking song that no rock fan should miss (and please don't think this is depressing music, because it's not..... it is music that's truly relevant to today's society). "Stay" and "Photograph" are a few more great hits off this one that are incredible. Really, the whole album is awesome - I can't even skip through a song because it is really that good!

I've had this one ever since it was released in August 2004, and it is still one of my favorites to listen to a year later. If you like good hard rock music, check this one out! I hope you love it as much as I do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive 2nd album, August 25, 2004
By

The album is exactly what I expected out of this band, who had such an amazing debut.......excellent.
12 stones have changed so much since their first release, which at times is good and bad, because there original approach was excellent.
Where as the debut honed songs that all had a similar sound to them, it is hard to find such repetitiveness on "Potter's Field."

The cd opens with a hard edged song with a great chorus in "Shadows", and then slightly lowers to the more expected tone of "The Last Song." Both are excellent openers for the cd.
The cd's first single is next. "Far Away" IS 12 stones. It has their feel, and the tone of the first album's songs. Excellent first release.
"Speak Your Mind" reminds me a lot of "Open Your Eyes" from the first cd, but it's songs is more edgy.
"Lifeless" is a decent song, but it's overall melody becomes repetitious and the song kinda seems pointless compared to the others.
"Bitter" is a slower song that has an excellent verse and chorus. It kinda sounds different than the rest, but in a good way.
"Photograph" is one of the cd's best, with it's beautiful verse, and hard-edge chorus. Sounds like 12 stones.
"3 Leaf Loser" is my least favorite song on the cd, simply because it is nothing spectacular, and interrupts 2 wonderful songs.
The next song "Stay" is one of the most beautiful songs I have EVER heard. Paul's vocals are stunning.
"Waiting for Yesterday" is the best song on the cd. It's verse is extremely catchy, and the song has so much meaning. I literally cried the first time I listened to it. It also feels like a 12 stones song.
"In Closing" is a good song, and a great way to end a great cd.

Shadows-8/10
The Last Song-8/10
Far Away-9/10
Speak Your Mind-7/10
Lifeless-5/10
Bitter-7/10
Photograph-9/10
3 Leaf Loser-5/10
Stay-10/10
Waiting for Yesterday-10/10
In closing-7/10

Great band and a great cd. The comparison to the first is completely up to the listener, but despite the fact that "Stay" and "Waiting for Yesterday" are the BEST I have heard from 12 stones, I still like the first cd slightly better than "Potter's Field."

5.0 out of 5 stars Potter's Field, August 25, 2004
This review is from: Potter's Field (Audio CD)
This Cd is great. 12 stones sound has definetly changed to a bit harder but still greatly postive sound. Since their Debut Album they have grown alot and this CD shows it. It shows how much they have grown as a band and hopefully this CD Helps them get more of the airplay and Fanbase that they need. So im saying that you really need to go pick it up weather it be on here or somewhere else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diverse and more creative follow up, February 2, 2006
This review is from: Potter's Field (Audio CD)
When 12 Stones' debt album came out it basically got two types of reviews: awesome or boring from a lack of creativity. The main complaint was the most of the songs sounded the same. 12 Stones must have listened as their follow up album "Potter's Field" is not only more diverse and creative but you can almost feel a deliberate attempt to make their own sound (no doubt stemming from the fact that way too many people compared them to Creed) Potter's Field, to me, makes two statements. First, they're their own band and are not trying to be Creed. Instead, they're trying to create music that they enjoy listening to and playing. Second, they make a statement that they're not going to attempt to reproduce success but instead have the guts to do their own thing.

Highlights on this album include: Speak Your Mind, Far Away and The Last Song among others. This is a great hard rock album for those of us that like the hard rock sound of the music but don't necessarily like the continual screaming or speed drums that sometimes come with it. This album took me a couple spins to get used to but the more I listen to it the more I like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Getting better with each release!, September 15, 2006

I liked this one better than there first (which was great). Kevin Dorr's replacement in the line-up by Greg Trammell hasn't hurt them probably since Kevin's still collaborated in writing all the songs. Great tempo and mood changes in the songs. I like music that can make you feel something and just doesn't sound great and this CD fits the bill. Keep rocking 12 stones!! I look forward to your next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Captivating, April 28, 2006
This review is from: Potter's Field (Audio CD)
Eager to shake compairisons to the band creed, 12 stones offered up "potter's field", a 2004 rock release with more of a melodic alternative metal approach. The band comes off more in the vein of breaking benjamin and staind with PF, which seems to suit them a little bit better. Songs open with thrashing guitars and move into subtle, but catchy, verses. Even for those of you who sit patient just for the chorus', PF is a winner. Song for song, PF is worth every penny. Two years later, I still pick this record up and throw it on from time to time. So if you havent heard from 12 stones lately, listen again. You'll be in for a surprise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Gets Better & Better, September 10, 2004
This review is from: Potter's Field (Audio CD)
After having become totally enamored of 12 Stones from their debut album, I didn't think it would be possible for them to do it better. I WAS WRONG!!

Potter's Field represents a matured and more sophisticated follow-up but without losing any of the qualities that makes 12 Stones great. Their writing and musicianship has stepped up even more and showing that confidence, they've expanded their sound to new and exciting creative levels.

This album (as well as their first) was worth every penny and more!! I'd highly recommend it to any music-lover (and I have)!!
