Well-researched and chock full o' images,

This review is from: Pottsville Firefighting (PA) (Images of America) (Paperback)
This book was obviously well planned and researched. Starting off in 1829 with the evolution of the fire deparment, it takes the reader on a fascinating journey through 175 years of firefighting history. The images presented are full of history and many times it would feel as though the reader was transplanted back in time while reading.
For anyone who has an interest in rich fire service history or the Anthracite region, this book is a 'must have'. So many times history is lost and not captured for future generations to read and learn about. This book will certainly ensure that future generations who wish to learn about firefighting in Pottsville, PA will be able to do just that! This book is not a novel, but does offer some paragraphs at the beginning of each chapter to set the reader up. Additionally, there are captions under each picture which are very descriptive in nature. From the box number to the time and address of alarm, as much detail that can be provided, is.

My Great Grandfather was one of the first fire fighters in Pottsville. I guess I was hoping there might be pictures and his name somewhere in it. It still was a great book. I enjoy every book I've gotten in this series
