5.0 out of 5 stars Hooray for Underpants
Elmo and his doll, Baby David, have been a large part of our potty training success. We have three learning tools from this series, the book, the DVD and the Elmo doll that sits on the potty. 1.0 out of 5 stars POTTY TRAINING FAIL
This is a book about an imaginary monster potty-training a doll. Obviously It involves the toilet, but there are no references to how you know when you have to go, poop, pee... it just skips from "do you have to go, Baby David?" to "You're done!" Last, it makes horrible doodle-deedle bleep bloop noises.

And of course my kid is obsessed with it. PARENTS, SAVE...

My 2 year old found this book very boring. I found the book was written poorly and the sounds didn't flow very well with the story. The book is short and could not keep my child's attention. Buy a different book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not help with potty training, March 14, 2007

The sounds from the push buttons seem completely irrelevant to the potty story in the book. My baby LOVES Elmo and she barely plays with the book at all. Definitely does NOT seem to help with potty training.

Our daughter quickly linked the three and discovered that with Elmo, using the potty is not quite as scary as before.

With this book, her favorite buttons are the toilet paper roll that spins and the toilet flushing. She pushes both of those on every page. And, though it is not a book about shapes and things, she loves to ask which pair of underpants at the end has what shape on them- "Is this the pair with the rockets- no, those are duckies!" She has a lot of fun with this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars We are happy with it, June 26, 2010
This review is from: Potty Time with Elmo (Liittle Sound Book) (Toy)
It was so hard to find Potty training books that I felt would be helpful. After searching long and hard we found a few and out of those this was one of them. Our little guy started potty training at 15 months. Our goal is to have him on it at least twice a day for 10 minutes (morning when he wakes up and when we get home after work)or less if he goes. It's only been a month and (he's gone 31 times so far) plays with this book, loves to push the buttons and flip the pages. Soon I'm sure we will be able to actually "read" it to him LOL..but for now, I have no complaints. He's really into pushing buttons and sounds and tactile things right now so we are happy with this purchase!

Save your money! There are better books out there and this thing just makes noise and is obnoxious. It really doesn't help with understanding the potty. Spend your money on the Potty Time video instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Know what to expect, March 9, 2011

Similar to the DVD, this is a great book if you know what you're buying it for. If you are going for graphic, it's not for you. I agree that it definitely skips steps - from finding the nearest potty to flushing (after whirling the toilet paper), but it DOES open the topic of potty training in a positive, excited, friendly way - by our beloved Elmo. Yes, the sounds can get OLD, but reading time with a toddler should be positive and fun, not a lesson. This holds their interest and is a favorite in the home. And when you get sick of hearing the sounds in the book, just put the book out of site and drop in the DVD. ;-)

My daughter (2) loves to push the buttons and flip the pages of this book. However, the story is a little weak. If it shows her a bit of confidence as potty training approaches, though, I'm all for it!

2.0 out of 5 stars It's a book that your child will enjoy, but didn't help my child whatsoever as far as potty training., April 15, 2010
This review is from: Potty Time with Elmo (Liittle Sound Book) (Toy)
Nice book, but I wish it came with a potty training chart. My daughter kind of liked the book at first, but it doesn't go into detail at all as far as potty training. Maybe that's where the parents should step in and explain, but then why even get the book? Just get a potty chart, explain and show your child how to pee pee in the potty and once it's filled with stars and they are potty trained, let them pick out a present at the store. I'm sure they won't pick out this book:). The Elmo DVD learning how to pee pee on the potty was a better idea and did get her excited about starting the process. My daughter is old enough to know the sensation of when she needs to go potty and she usually goes on her own now. It's a power struggle with toddlers. Give them something to drink and make them pee pee in the potty 15min later and do this every time they drink something. Don't ask them to go pee pee, tell them every 30-45 min that we're going to try going pee pee. After a week, your child should know the sensation you're talking about when they have to go pee pee. There will be accidents for about a week and Pull-ups don't work, just use panties or underwear and after a week, of doing all the hard work and training, they won't have any more accidents, because they will get sick of peeing on themselves. Don't forget the rewards chart.

My nephew loves this book so much because he loves the sounds that come out of the book. I would highly recommend this book for mothers who are potty training.
