We seriously doubted we could train our daughter in a day - we hoped a couple of weeks would get us headed in the right direction. You'll be dubious too when you read the intro (tells about a Mom who trained their kid in 5 hours), but after 3 days of using the methods from this book, our daughter was clean and dry. She didn't really take to the doll like the book said she would, but the basic ideas in the book are very easy to implement and helped A LOT. It's a quick read and gives good guidance, but is not so strict you can't adapt it to your own parenting style and the personality of your toddler. Just be patient - potty training won't be easy. We were ready to give up after half a day, but we're SO glad we stuck it out - the second day was much easier and day 3 was great!

If anyone has ever read, "How to Toilet Train your Child in Less than a Day" you know that potty training books can be somewhat obnoxious to read. Making it seem much more simple than it is, and yet forcing you to wade through way too much information. This book took many of the concepts from the less than a day book, but stuck to the basic points, and also admitted that not all children can be trained in less than a day. Great resource for potty training!

I searched through many approaches but this one made the most sense and was very straight forward. With twin boys it didn't happen in quite a day but they were both trained in two weeks. I recommend this book to all my friends. I especially liked the trouble-shooting questions in the back.

Although I found Babywise and Toddlerwise by the Ezzos very useful, I found this book somewhat difficult to follow. I tried to potty train in a day, but was not successful. I did use the suggestion to reinforce keeping undies dry and clean in addition to rewarding success on the potty. My 2 1/2 year old daughter became so focused on keeping her panties dry that she would hold her urine for hours without going potty. I used a combination of approaches and my daughter was day time potty trained within a few weeks. Overall, I felt most information in the book could be found elsewhere.

I researched potty training books for a long long time and finally settled with Potty Training 1-2-3 because the idea behind it made sense to me and I thought would make sense to my 2yo son. I stressed about potty training WAY more than I needed to. I blocked out 4 days to potty train and was prepared with treats/rewards and juice....determined to make this happen the first time.

But, on the first day, my son was more excited about wearing 'big boy undies' than receiving treats for staying dry and clean that we ditched the treats altogether...and his motivation for staying clean and dry was wearing his undies. He only had 2 accidents on day one, woke up the first night wet and asked to go potty then went back to bed, and on day two he didn't have any accidents and was telling me when he needed to go potty. We even went to the store on day two and on the way in, he said he had to go potty so we stopped and used the public restroom...and he stayed dry the whole 2 hours we were out and about.

I attribute his success to this book because the concepts in it make sense and work. The goal is to stay clean and dry by going on the potty so if you can get your kid to understand that, you are in for the win!

I also purchased Elmo's Potty Time DVD and showed that to him a couple of times on day one, while he sat on the potty watching it, and I think that helped a lot too...

I have found this helpful so far with my 2-year-old, mainly learning that he is not as ready as I thought he was. Now that I have let off the pressure and am giving potty training a break, we are both happier. I will start again, with the ideas in the book, when we are both more apt to be able to follow through and succeed.

The author offers several options for training in a matter-of-fact manner. The troubleshooting and frequently asked questions sections were very helpful.

this book shares several different approches to potty training and the list of signs of readiness were especially helpful.

Great book & so simple. As a teacher I did this type of positive reinforcements with kids all the time. However, I neglected to do it at home with the kids. This really works!

I bought this book because I used the baby wise books by the same author and was elated to have such a resource. This book was very practical, easy to understand and implement.
