trimmer didn't work on arrival, looked used/refurbished, and is NOT eligible for
amazon return. it's nearly impossible to reach an actual person at poulan and once
you do, they is no way you can manage a return. instead, you need to hoof
it to an authorized dealer and whenever they get to it, they decide if it's fixable or needs
replacement. i paid for overnite shipping for a reason, which is not for the trimmer
to sit at a dealer's. it pretty much seems that they will not allow for a return for
refund only exchange and repair. since i needed a trimmer i ended up doing what i
should have done in the first place and bought a stihl trimmer while awaiting the outcome
of this ill-faited and costly endeavor. unless you got faith in poulan, don't mind having
no recourse at all, and enjoy automated phone trees, i suggest you stick with a reputable
brand or at least a product eligible for amazon return.

The very first time I tried to start it, the pull rope got stuck. Called the company and they gave me the names of the only two authorized service centers in New Jersey. Both the centers were over 20 miles away. Turned out that one of the centers had gone out of business and the other one was my only option. Took it in there, they said if it was a manufacturer's defect, it would be covered under warranty. After a week they called me back and said there was an extra screw in there which caused the Pull rope to get stuck and they fixed it under warranty. Since the time I brought it back, it has been working great and I like it so far.

Refurbished resmhurbished, this trimmer is plenty powerful and runs like it is brand new, like a champ. It starts up well too, and I like that the startup instructions are on a sticker on the machine. The blade cuts great on anything up to about 3/4" in diameter, which is plenty for most homeowners. Probably a good idea to put a fine mist of oil on the blade after use or for storage, since it is not stainless and can rust. Overall a good machine at a good price, however it has went up in price $75 since I purchased it a few months ago for $120. A pricetag of $195 for a refurbished machine isn't exactly what I would call cheap, however in my experience the Poulan trimmer works very well. Just at $195, I would consider spending a bit more money to get a brand new Stihl gas hedge trimmer which I have also used and works even better than the Poulan.

I've only used it twice so far but for almost an hour each time. I went from a cheap electric hedge trimmer to this and I'll never go back. No more cut cords, no more yanking the cord around and no more of the weak electric trimmer barely being able go cut my bushes. I was trimming sapling trees and branches down with this thing. I'd give it 5 stars but I've only used it twice so far. I will have to balk up my skinny arms though because it does get quite heavy after awhile.

I live in east TN and it is a jungle out there, so this unit will get lots of hard use. This is the first time I've owned a gas powered hedger, I've always owned electric types and I've only had this hedger for three weeks and used it three times. It does seem like a good product. It does have quite a bit of vibration, and is pretty heavy, but it does have a 22" bar and a hefty engine, so maybe that is normal for these gas powered hedgers. I was very surprised of how stingy it is on fuel, so that's a plus. So far I'm satisfied, we'll see how it holds up to the jungle.

This is my first power trimmer. Compared to hand trimming, it is much faster and easier, although more hazardous. I recommend wearing gloves, safety glasses, hat and long sleaved shirt. The unit initially started hard and took a few seconds to rev up. After a few hours, the unit loosened up and now starts easily and has no rev up lag. Overall the trimmer works well as long as the branches are under 1/2".

Highly recommed this trimmer to anyone who is looking for a powerful machine that gets the job done....

Purchased this as a refurbished hedge trimmer from The Manufacturer's Outlet who also does business as Lawn Station on eBay. No mention by seller that item did not come with the accessories that are supplied when new, such as the blade guard (important) and 2-cycle oil. Unit was very noisy when started, turns out there was insufficient grease in the gears that control the blade movement; had to remove grease cover and add grease which solved the problem. Seems to be a decent product but vendor should have been more honest about description; when I called them they said they knew that the refurb units did not have accessories yet chose not to mention this in the description. They were to order the blade guard; it was to arrive in 2-3 weeks; has been 4 weeks and I've still not seen it.

This trimmer is difficult to start and keep running,,(probably the carb set to current emissions stds)

After one hour of use the blade cutting surface are damaged and dented. I will update this when i contact the mfg. It does not have stainless steel blades.

Received on time in good shape. Blades were set too tight at factory and initially wouldn't move at all. Simple adjustment according to instructions provided quick fix. This little 25 cc engine is a bit temperamental on starting and requires priming, cranking, and choking, exactly as recommended in the instructions. It never starts on the first crank, but once started and warmed up, it does seems to idle nicely and run well. It doesn't seem to lean out as fast as I might have expected, but this may improve as it "breaks in". The nicest thing is that the cutting blades work very nicely even in very heavy hedge and it easily cuts 1/2 inch brances. A full tank gives a nice long run and the engine does not stall at any cutting angle until the tank is almost empty. My only real concern is weight. This little hedger is very handy and powerful (it blows my cordless electric Black and Decker hedger out of the water), but is heavy enough to tire your arms when cutting for any length of time. However, for the price I can't imagine a better product. I have many Stihl tools which I like, but feel are generally very overpriced, despite their high quality. However, this little cheap Poulan does the job well, at about half the price of a comparable Stihl. It also seems like an easy product to fix provided parts remain available. Overall, I am extremely happy with this product and aside from the weight issue, I can't imagine a product which could out-perform it.
