2.0 out of 5 stars Poulan Pro PP 333 Trimmer and Brush Cutter, September 13, 2009

This review is from: Poulan Pro PP333 17-inch 33cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Straight-Shaft Attachment Capable String Trimmer and Brush Cutter (Lawn & Patio)
Poulan Pro PP333 17-inch 33cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Straight Shaft Attachment Capable String Trimmer and Brush Cutter
Purchased this trimmer because it looked like a good idea to get a combination trimmer/brush cutter.
Good point: Although trimmer is a bit heavy, it came with a shoulder strap. The engine starts relatively easy and the trimmer works well.
Bad points: If you want to change from trimmer to brush cutter you are in for a surprise. You need your tool box and fiddle around for 10 - 15 minutes to make this change and the same amount of time for the reverse procedure. The reason is that the brush cutter is not an assembled attachment but a blade and other parts that need to be combined with the trimmer attachment. Your much better off to purchase the brush cutter attachment separately.
I contacted Poulan customer service on two occasions via e-mail to find out if I could purchase a shaft to assemble a separate brush cutter attachment but they have not bothered to repliy to my request - bad customer service.
Bottom line: decent grass trimmer, lousy combination trimmer/brush cutter tool

I found Maurer Rolf's comments very helpful. I was going to buy this because I thought it had the two attachments and I could save the $15.39 of buying the brush attachment separately. This outfit, the Poulan Pro PP 333 Trimmer and Brush Cutter costs $162.94; The trimmer alone (the Poulan Pro PP 133 Trimmer Poulan Pro PP133 17-inch 33cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Straight-Shaft Attachment-Capable String Trimmer- same model without the bush blade) costs $129.99 and a Poulan Pro PP4000C Brush Cutter Attachment Poulan Pro PP4000C Brush Cutter Trimmer Attachment costs $48.34 for a total of $178.33 and for that I have two quick-change attachments. I would say it is well worth $15.39 to not have to dis-assemble and re-assemble and dis-assemble and re-assemble every time I want to trim both grass and brush - like I have to do on my lot. To put it another way if you buy the PP333 you are paying $32.95 for a $12 blade and some parts.

Update: I found Amazon also has a Poulan Pro PP330 17-inch 33cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Curved Shaft Attachment Capable String Trimmer Poulan Pro PP330 17-inch 33cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Curved Shaft Attachment Capable String Trimmer for $104 and it appears the only difference between the PP330 and the PP133 is price and that the PP133 is straight shaft and the PP330 is curved shaft. So a PP330 trimmer and a PP4000C would only be $152.34! A savings of $10.60 over the PP333 and you get 2 quick change attachments for that price instead of one attachment and some stuff you need to assemble & disassemble and assemble, etc. Now I'm sticking with the straight shaft which transfers power to the cutting head better and most professionals use a straight shaft, but the curved shaft is a great price.

1.0 out of 5 stars The description of this item is misleading, January 20, 2012

Poulan Pro P333 review. Instead of buying the P333 like I did (not from Amazon unfortunately, so I couldn't return it), buy the P133 engine and the PP4000C brush cutting attachment separately. The combo advert is misleading in that you only get 1 attachment shaft that you have to retool between the blade and the trimmer head. See all my reviews for opinions on the P133 engine and the PP4000C brush cutting attachments contained in the P333 combo.

I give 1 star to the P333 for its misleading advert. I give 4 stars to the P133 engine as explained in my review for that item.

These are the biggest pieces of junk available- do not waste your time. I have 2 of these- both of which do not work. The first one lasted 1 month and the second one lasted just over a year. My neighbor purchased one also and his died in 4 months. I purchased this because I have a Mcculloch which lasted 20 years and now falls under Poulan. Past performance is not an indicator of future preformance in this case. Junk, Junk, Junk. No other way to describe it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Polann Pro 330 Gas Trimmer, September 6, 2010
This review is from: Poulan Pro PP333 17-inch 33cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Straight-Shaft Attachment Capable String Trimmer and Brush Cutter (Lawn & Patio)
JUNK JUNK JUNK!!

Don't waste your time! That's what it has been for me, I have a limited time to do yard work and I spent most of my day trying to start this thing. I don't mind spending the money for quality equipment. This is NOT QUALITY EQUIPMENT. I spent the first 30-40 minutes just tryng to get it started. Once it started it ran like a two stroke and wouldn't idle, ran only wide open. I cut some thick grass with it then needed to change to the Brush Cutting Blade which is why I bought it. Wish I could tell you how the blade worked, but once again the Poulan Pro 330 wouldn't start. I'm going out to the garage to give it one more chance and before I submit this. Oh surprise it started and ran great, until I needed to start it again and the pull rope broke. Did I mention I bought this TODAY! I'll be returning it tomorrow.

3.0 out of 5 stars What R U Kidding Me!!!!, September 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Poulan Pro PP333 17-inch 33cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Straight-Shaft Attachment Capable String Trimmer and Brush Cutter (Lawn & Patio)
I get the product and I am so ready to cut weeds and bush of my new land and quickly change from the weed to brush cutter quickly. and to my surprise just like Rolf Maurer "edelweiss" said in first review (which I am sorry to say I did not look at before my prime purchase of this product) It did not have a quick attach brush cutter just a blade and the parts to attach it (10 to 15 hot min of my life) I thought I was getting quick change... I was wrong.
Poulan if anyone from this company is reading this, all I have to say is you guys totally are misleading your customer with this one and should make it right.

Title says it all. Used it twice, and it increased my weedeating time by 3 fold. The straight line design is crap. You spend more time putting a new line on it every ten feet than you do running it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
