After a lot of searching I decided to purchase this snowblower to replace a very old (but still very functional) single stage Toro.
I was a little worried about ordering online because of how it would possibly arrive.
It came in a crate in a box, delivered by a local carrier and they brought it right in my garage, very good and easy delivery.
This Poulan is very big- It easily takes just one pass to clear an entire sidewalk.
It has electric start which is a nice upgrade to the pull start I was previously using.
It has power steering so it is really easy to steer-
There is no straining when pushing it.
The tires are pretty big, but functional.
Really throws the snow great and you can adjust where the snow goes.
Makes a perfectly clear pathway, even in deep snow!
Easily gets through powder and the thick heavy snow!
Can do my entire driveway and walk in just a few minutes.
Also, since it gets darker earlier the flood light that is has really comes in handy!

This is a very nice snowblower for $1099 with free shipping its well worth it!

Don't have much time for a thorough report tonight. Standby for a detailed review with pictures and a video. But for those interested in this blower today, this is a good 30" blower at a great price. It replaced a 25" 2-stage blower with tracks, and I haven't been disappointed. I'll add tons of amplified data soon.

UPDATE (21 DEC 2011):

Bottom Line Up Front: Great value. Works as advertised. If you don't get more than 6" of snow at a time, it may be more than you need.

SHIPPING
Ships via truck freight not UPS. Watch for an email from the trucking company. It will have a number to call so schedule the delivery. Mine shipped from the Phoenix area, so it was a little disappointing that it took 7 days to deliver.
Crate/Packaging: Very solid. See my pictures. Suffered zero damage in shipping.

ASSEMBLY
I took my time and it still took less than 1 hour (with interruptions). Much easier than assembling a doll house on Christmas Eve. As a technique, I put Blue Loctite (medium thread locker) on all nuts and bolts that I assembled.

ENGINE
LCT 10.0HP, CARB approved, so I was allowed to buy this one in the People's Republic of California. Previously I attempted to buy the 27" blower but they wouldn't ship it to my address because it wasn't CARB (California Air Research Board) approved. I live at an elevation of 6100' so the extra HP of the 291cc motor is welcomed.
The engine came with oil but I was unsure if it was motor oil or preservation oil. As a precaution I replaced it with standard 10W-30 motor oil (per the manual). The oil that drained out was a strange, very blue, color. I would recommend swapping it to something you're familiar with.

I have had 2 snowblowers prior to this one so I can only compare to them. One is a 5 year old, 28inch, Yard Machine. I consider this a low end machine. I leave it at a rental property. The 2nd is a 20 year old 32inch Simplicity Commercial grade snowblower. The Simplicity is the one I am replacing with the Poulan Pro.
The Poulan Pro arrived as expected via free shipping from Amazon. It did require some assembly but it only took about an hour and the instructions were very easy to follow.
So far I have only used the Poulan Pro once, but it was 10 inches of heavy wet snow. So this was a good test.
I did not have to use the electric start because It started right away with the pull cord.
Even with the wet snow, It had very good throwing distance. "I could finally reach my neighbors driveway"
The large tires provided good traction to push through the two foot wall of heavy clumped snow at the end of my driveway courtesy of the snowplows. This machine sliced right thru.
The chute was very easy to control up, down, left right. All the control knobs as well as this entire machine seems to be well made and heavy duty. The power steering worked as expected and made the machine a bit easier to handle while turning.
The only very minor flaws for me are the speed control. Its hard to determine where the speed control lever engages. You have a good idea but there are no indicators or notches. And, while traveling backwards with the front end up, you have to push down a little to far to balance the unit without force. You end up walking backwards hunched over a bit.
So bottom line, its much better than the $700 Yardmachine, and close but not quite, a $2000 Simplicity Commercial. For under $1000, this is a steal. Highly recommended.

I bought this last winter just in time to miss our only real snow. Finally got to use it last night, on about three inches of loose stuff.

The thing is a beast. It is about as much machine as I want to handle, but the controls are straight forward, and you can make it go where you want it under its own power and without having to coerce it.

I wanted a big blower because I have a very long driveway (as long as a city block) and didn't want to have to depend on a plow to get it cleared in our occasional PA snows. This monster made light work of it. One swath clears a track about as wide as a typical public sidewalk. I went once up, once back, repeat, and my driveway was clear. Directing the throw of the snow was as simple as the other controls (for forward and reverse of the unit, with triggers on each side to turn under power, and auger control), and the unit throws for a good distance.

After a single use, I can see this will earn its keep.

The purchase price from Amazon was more than competitive with a local purchase, and it came straight to my garage without any hassles. The initial set up I did when the thing arrived, last winter, but I don't recall it being a hardship. If memory serves, the set up was done in less than an hour and had the added benefit of giving me some familiarity with the unit's features and controls. I would gladly make the same purchase again, but the thing seems well-enough built that I doubt I'll ever have to. I note that it's features and specifications seem an identical match for a Husquevarna unit that costs more.
