We are very happy with it's engine power and the front wheel drive. I've had my neighbor try it out and he also fell in love with it !!! It came basically 98% ready to use out of the box.. All we had to do was unwrap add gas and oil and started right up. has a side discharge that you can undo with one quick action to turn it into a mulching mower and back to side discharge just as easy. also the ease of the rising and lowering of the wheels for the mower height. I would recommend anybody buying this. My wife is the one that uses it and she can't say enough about how much she likes the ease of using. You can buy the mower with confidence that it is what it says it is.

First off let me say that i've never wrote a review before. I usually have luck with items and usually buy items based upon other reviews. This time I wasn't so lucky. I bought this item last year (June 2008). It ran fine for the summer/fall. I did everything I was supposed to do to winterize it (drain gas, oil, clean old grass clippings, clean air filter, unplug spark plug, etc...). Come April 2009, I add oil, gas, etc.. and the thing just wouldn't start. I tried everything but couldn't even get a spark from the engine. I called Poulan Pro but was never able to speak to a live person. I finally just brought it into an "authorized" poulan pro service shop, which I located on [...]. A few weeks later, they called me and told me my mower was ready and that there is a $143 charge and it's not covered under warranty. They said it was dirty inside and that they had to take apart the whole carburetor to clean it. From regular use, the whole carburetor got dirty and this caused it to stop working?? Now it is May 2009, the mower is running but who knows for how long. I will never buy another Poulan Pro product again.
In short, do not buy this. My last mower was a Toro and lasted me 8 years and I wish I had bought another. Go get a name brand mower like Toro or John Deere and you will be better off.

Good Mower, Great Value,
This review is from: Poulan Pro PR625Y22SHP 22-inch 625 Series Briggs & Stratton Gas-Powered FWD Self-Propelled Lawn Mower with High Rear Wheels (Lawn & Patio)
I've owned this mowed 3 seasons. It is well built and durable. It still starts on the first pull and makes it through my grass without ever stalling. It's very easy to adjust the deck height. Highly recommended.

Poulan Pro 625 series self propelled mower,
This review is from: Poulan Pro PR625Y22SHP 22-inch 625 Series Briggs & Stratton Gas-Powered FWD Self-Propelled Lawn Mower with High Rear Wheels (Lawn & Patio)
I bought a (new)push mower from Ace hardware and since I have a steep 1/2 acre lot, I returned it. They said that they had an (almost new) self-propelled mower that had a rebuilt front drive unit and they would trade me even.
I used the mower for one season, winterized it and had no trouble getting it started this spring. I admit that since my lawn is steep, it puts an extra load on the drive unit, but soon the front wheel drive started to skip. I pulled the wheel off and it is a simple gear and tooth drive unit. The problem is that the Plastic "teeth" on the inside of the wheel was alost completely sheered. Since Sears sells replacement parts for this mower I contacted them and the cost of two plastic front wheels with shipping and tax is over $50.00. Since these are simple "stamped out" plastic parts, I think I will just junk it and buy something better. Now, even though the mower gets an extra workout, I think it should last for more than one season. I am a red, white and blue American, but shoddy workmanship and cheap parts are one reason we are losing the battle with China and Japan.

Mower worked fine twice but then wouldn't start. Problem was a badly clogged air filter. Now I clean filter after every use.

It works, At least for the first year did with no problem. The mower is made mostly from stamped parts. The piece Made in China that holds the blade on has a sloppy fit to the motor and one of the two pins that hold the blade in place fell out and the blade itself has a one 1/2" hole for a 3/8" bolt with a large washer for mounting. It all works but seems too many short cuts were made in manufacturing from the plastic belt guards to the cross bars the engage the blade and dive. I would not recommend this mower.

A well made machine with plenty of power and I love the Briggs engine.
Only downside....the speed is non-controllable and set by mfg. Farmer Gray Milford, N. J. |
