The packaging is defiantly a two person job, but after you get it out its easy cheesy!

What I don't like is the transmission as compared to the hydrostatic trans. on my old Wizard/ Craftsman which you could shift without coming to a full stop.

This tractor will give you a cut that looks like the greens on a golf course, is easy to handle, has a great turning radius, is easy on the gasoline.

I've always been a Craftsman guy as far as riding mowers goes. I had been using an LT2000 22HP, which was a few years old, and was starting to slowly need repair after repair. Looking through the new models, I really didn't see anything that appealed to me as far as looks, features, or price. I do not have a way of transporting this mower, so I would have to pay delivery charges that ranged from $90 to $300 depending on the model. Yikes ! I looked on Amazon in hopes of finding something less expensive, but also having the same features as my older one. I found this Poulan Pro PB17542LT, liked what I saw, and decided to check into it. Thank God for Amazon Prime !...It cost me nothing to ship, and I had it within a few days. Un-crated the mower, did just a little bit of assembly, adjusted the tire pressure, made sure the deck was level, and started mowing. This tractor will give you a cut that looks like the greens on a golf course, is easy to handle, has a great turning radius, is easy on the gasoline. It is just a little smaller in size compared to my older models, but I'm 100% satisfied.

This is our first riding lawn mower. Evaluated many makes and models. Decided to go with Poulan as they had the most convenient authorized service dealers in our area. Shipping went well except for weather delay but the shipping company was easy to communicate with and they were very helpful in coordinating delivery.
Assembly was not difficult, following the instructions. Started right up & the first mowing was a success. As we have not had previous riders to compare, we cannot give any information for such but we are impressed with the cut, the ease of use and the size of the mower.
Tires come over inflated - so be sure to check them & adjust according to the specs on the tire. Ride seemed comfortable enough.
Everything seems to be as described.

This excellent and durable mower is a newer version of the Sears Craftsman (model 917.256511). Manufactured by husqvarna and sold as the Poulan Pro and Ariens brands. Excellent power and traction. The unit can mow at high speeds without losing power. Because the unit is sold by Sears as well under the Ariens name, all of the parts for this mower are available through Sears excellent parts supply web site SearsPartsDirect.com .

The tractor will be delivered by truck to your home in a crate wrapped in cardboard wrapped with plastic. The only assembly is to install the steering wheel (one bolt) and the seat (two bolts). The most difficult part is removing the unit from the pallet/crate. Check the oil, add gas and go mowing.

Note this is one of the few reasonably priced mowers that still have a gear shift, which is an important safety consideration if you have a hilly lawn

My Poulan runs well and has all the power I need for mowing tall weeds. It turns easier and tighter than all previous mowers I've owned.
What I don't like is the transmission as compared to the hydrostatic trans. on my old Wizard/ Craftsman which you could shift without coming to a full stop. Also, letting out the clutch without the machine jerking and lurching is impossible at any r.p.m. The seat back is lower also but my olde one bolted on easily. The body is of lighter duty than my other mowers, the front axle is not heavy, solid, cast steel but rather stamped steel.
Overall, if maintained regularly and not abused I believe this mower should last quite a spell but keep in mind, this is an economy mower but it's worth what I paid for sure.

First, i NEVER thought i would buy a lawn mower on Amazon~!
2 reasons NO TAX and FREE SHIPPING!
i got my delivery on April 29th in the A.M. The lawn mower was delivered in a cardboard box and crate. I did not have trouble unpacking it by myself (female but handy). Cut away the cardboard box as instructed and to get it off the crate i raised the blades to the highest position. Slowly lifted and slid the mower inch by inch starting with the back and then the front until it was off the pallet. The mower is not really heavy so this was not hard to do.
Putting on the steering wheel was simple and i was up and running within 2hrs of getting it.
i read a review where someone said the lawnmower was "loud" and i said to myself "duh, lawnmowers are load, silly" BUT i now know what he meant. This mower is louder than normal. It cuts great and the instructions tell you how to level the deck before you start, which i did not do (never heard that before). I noticed that the cut is slightly off, i guess it could use some leveling (once i find the instructions again:-0 )
Shifting of the gears are easy and smooth BUT having the brake/clutch on the left is taking some getting used to. Everytime i start off i give myself whiplash while releasing the brake/clutch to get moving. (pretty much like when you are learning to drive a stickshift car).
It moves fast and the turn radius is wonderful. I go uphill with no problems. At the steepest point the tire does spin and i am not able to move so i will shift down the gear and slowly make my way out of it. The seat is comfy. I tried having a drink with me but it shakes around too much. no complaints other than it is loud.
I truly think this mower is worth the money and i would recommend it.
