From the Inside Flap

Roni DeLuz and James Hester are back with another book that's guaranteed to become a dieting phenomenon.

A POUND A DAY offers an expanded, simplified month-long program to cleanse your body, as well as a new plan for keeping it clean for the rest of your life. After publishing 21 POUNDS IN 21 DAYS, DeLuz and Hester have learned where detoxers need more support and have expanded those areas in their dieting plan. The new book offers recipes, meal plans, and tips for eating clean and healthy food. After spending time with readers following the plan in 21 POUNDS IN 21 DAYS, they realized that dieters needed more help transitioning from detoxing to changing their eating habits for the rest of their lives. A POUND A DAY speaks to these needs by moving from a plan for twenty-one days to a plan for a month, which is now followed by an outline for how to help dieters sustain the effects of the detox for the rest of their lives.

A POUND A DAY will give dieters the tools they need to transform their lives from blah to radiant and then keep them that way. This isn't just a cleansing detox it's a jumpstart for a lifestyle change that will last forever. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

I decided to try this detox diet to lose weight. Could only stay on it for 15 days, but I lost 14 pounds. It helped stop the sugar and salt cravings and got me back on juicing. Made me very aware of how much salt most processed and restaurant foods have, and I've managed to cut back considerably on both. The weight loss also helped motivate me to keep going and get back to exercising.

One problem I had with the book is the lack of clarity as to how much berry juice and Aloe vera to take. I sent them an email; their response:

"You have 1oz of the acai berry drink. One 1oz of berry drink is equivalent
to 10-12 servings of mixed berries. You also take 1oz of aloe vera at
bedtime during the detox."

I purchased this book after listening to the author on the Steve Harvey radio show. I don't have a Kyocera and can't afford to get one, so I made some of the recipes using my Nutribullet. I'll say that all the fiber filled me up. I was upset that there was no recipe in the book for the "red" drink they keep mentioning. I did find the drink on their website for a ridiculous, exorbitant price. I went to Whole Foods and purchased the Blue Print raw veggie juices which are comparable to the drinks in this book and lost 12 lbs, 3 inches off my waist and 2 inches off my hips in 2 weeks, with zero exercise. You can even have the Blue Print drinks delivered to your home fresh by ordering on blueprint.com. I'm still following the principles in the book. I do have salmon once a week. The book asks that you purchase vitamins and probiotics. I purchased these at Whole Foods in a combination live raw form which is great.

I've been researching modern nutrition and the effects the toxins we're exposed to daily have on our bodies for years now, and let me just say, if you're feeling overwhelmed - join the club! It's mind-boggling what has been allowed to go on with our toxicity levels in everything from our produce to our toothpaste to our mattresses. But don't let it discourage you!! Cleaning out your system and finding the right balance will, quite literally, make you feel like a new person.

I suffered from an undiagnosed hormone imbalance issues for so long, it was to the point where I just assumed I was actually losing my mind and that this was just the way the rest of my life was going to be. Eventually, I was diagnosed, but no doctor seemed to have a solution to the problem. Then I saw the documentary Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead and decided to get control of my life back. I thought we were a relatively healthy household, but it made me look at the food in our pantry in a whole different light (additives! GMO's! high fructose corn syrup! dyes! you name it!) We ditched packaged foods and went strictly Real/Whole Foods Only. I began juicing (did not do a detox) daily. And the difference it has made is astounding. Since, I have become fascinated by the effects of toxins on our hormones and bodies.

I have yet to do a full detox or cleanse but have been wanting to. I've been waiting anxiously for the release of this book to see if maybe this would be the detox for me. Obviously, I have just purchased the book, so I can't detail my detox or share my progress, but I will break down the basics of the book.

Part 1 goes into detail of the benefits of detoxing and why it's so easy to gain weight, yet seems so hard to lose.

ONe of the things I don;t like about the "diet" or life styles books of today is the need to fill up the pages with LOTS of rhetoric and or meaningless rehashing of info that is already put there. This would have been an even better book if htere was less common knowledge and more specific how toes and whys of the smoothies and juices that will facilitate wieht lost and a healthier system.

daily menu has inconsistencies with how to do the detox as explained in the book and on the website. Essential Greens from Martha's Vineyard tastes bad (way too sweet with berries added) and very thick when mixed with distilled water. I am losing a pound or more a day, today is day 6 and have lost 9.2. lbs. Would recommend book.

The book has lots of great information, but it's not until you are well into it and excited about trying the detox plan before you find out that you have to spend more money on kitchen appliances and dietary supplements to reap the full benefits of the detox plan. I struggle financially enough. I can't afford to spend $200 on vitamins.

There are so many diets out there but I have experienced doing a detox and it was the Martha's Diet Detox. I honestly can say that I never felt so good in my life. I suffered from high blood . pressure for years. Doing the detox my blood pressure had never been so good. My energy level was beyond great. I could walk for miles and just never wanted to stop. My clarity was so clear not foggy the way I felt everyday before detoxing. I took my products as described and was never hungry. . The plus that came along with detoxing was the weight loss, its amazing, it just works. My resolution is to do this detox once a year. The book is really easy to follow and has so many wonderful recipies Thanks for all the information in the book. All I can say to encourage people to take this book seriously is not to give up it works and if you want to feel good again please try it you will be see the results for yourself. My thanks go out to Dr. Roni and James Hester for another book. Get rid of those toxins and feel great again.
