This is a superb toy. The balls rolling back and forth encourage eye tracking which is great for pre reading visual skills. Also, the colored tubes help children practice matching with colors as they can match the ball color to the tube. Further the pounding and hammering encourages eye hand coordination which is a very important skill to have. On top of all the 'educational' type reasons this is a good toy to have around, it's just plain fun and kids like it. I have a three year old who still likes this toy and an 18 month who pushes the balls in with her hand rather than use the hammer. They both like this toy. To keep my kids from pounding each other, I tied a string around the hammer and the toy. It keeps it on a leash so it's not hard to find (since they don't always connect it like the picture shows) and it keeps it from being easily used to hammer heads and furniture, just balls. I'd buy this one again if I had to. It is a good toy. Enjoy.

We gave this to our one-and-a-half year old, and he still loves it six months later. He likes pounding the balls and watching them drop down the chutes and whirligig. After a while he started matching the balls to their same-color tube also. We even put this out when we have adults over and they like it too! The item is quite durable and assembly is very easy -- takes about three seconds.

We bought this for my son for Christmas when he was 18 months old and he still loves it (8 months later). All of his friends love it too. He has a plethora of toys, but still pulls this one out daily. Some of the previous reviews mentioned that the tubes were pretty tight and almost difficult for the little one's to pound, so we passed the balls through the tubes a few dozen times before we gave him the gift. It helped and the toy was a hit. This toy has helped with eye-hand coordination as well as color identification. I would definitely recommend this toy.

My 1-1/2 yr. old grandson is wise beyond his years and intellectually very picky about what is worth his time. This toy is wonderful for him to bang hard on and he roars with laughter when he gets a ball through. He is playing with the colors now. I would recommend this sturdy, durable toy to any people who want to please kids who have minds of their own early on. Amazon gets the toys I order for my grandson to him quickly and always in great shape. And Imaginarium is very good at providing toys that help develop skills.

This is a fun toy. My kids love pounding the balls and watching them fall through the maze. My concern before purchasing this was other toys getting stuck inside, but so far we have been able to shake out anything that gets inside. The balls and hammer store nicely for easy storage. Best of all it does not require batteries and is not constantly making beeps and whistles.

Fun and colorful,

This toy is very well made, fun, and colorful. However, the balls are EXTREMELY hard to pound through (even for an adult). My year old grandaughter cannot do it and loses interest real quick. The hammer, however, is a god send right now. She only has two bottom teeth and none on top. She is trying to get those on top and chews all day long on the blue soft end of this hammer. So at least it is good for a teether. Thanks

We don't have this exact one, but we have an extreemly similar one and my boys absolutely love it. They are 2 1/2 and 1 yrs old. They love to watch the balls roll through the maze and see how fast they can hit them all down. it is amazing how simple toys can occupy little kids. I try to make it educational for my 2 yr old by helping him put the red ball through the red hole, green in the green hole, etc. It truly is a fun toy!

My 18-month old son enjoys this toy. He likes to pound the balls through the hole and watch them come down. There are 2 minor problems with the toy though: 1) the ball highest on track will not roll down if there is a ball in the next hole. The track isn't quite at the right height to allow the ball to roll freely. This causes some frustration. 2) If there are 2 balls already at the bottom, the 3rd ball may not roll out of the toy. A quick jiggle by a parent will allow the ball to roll out. Despite these minor items, my son still enjoys the toy. He loves to pound away at the balls.

Excellent toy for a 18 months old!,

I bought this toy as a Christmas gift for my 18 months old boy based on the reviews posted by other parents. What a great toy this is! I had the Pound A Ball delivered to my work and immediately opened it. It was a lot of fun to play with (even my co-workers played). The balls are a little hard to pound through at first, but after trying a couple of times, the balls went through fine. Even my son was able to pound them with no problem. I only wish there were extra balls available to purchase (my son already lost two). Overall, this toy can sustain a lot of abuse, it's easy to clean and keeps kids entertained for hours.

My 17 month-old grandson immediately fell in love with the Pound A Ball when he opened the present and after a short lesson in holding the hammer went right to performing as the toy said he would. He had no trouble pounding the balls through and after some iterations, even put the colored balls in the right holes before incessantly pounding on them. Needless to say, it was his favorite toy much to the chagrin of my daughter and son-in-law. I would highly recommend this toy.
