3.0 out of 5 stars The Cheek of It!
*Lickapaw arches her back and swipes at the reviewer. She hisses* How dare you! Powder is a much better film than that! Sure, it can be seen as 2 dimentional, if you want to. If you give it more attention, rather than just half-watching it while you wonder where the hell the M&M's have disappeared to, then you'll see that this film does have at least a certain...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly Beautiful!, June 29, 2006

Jerry Goldsmith created one of the most beautiful music scores ever with this film. The movie itself remains one of my all-time favorites. You simply cannot watch it and not be moved. There are times when I listen to this CD and I can only cry--it is that powerful!

Whatever you have to pay to get a copy of it, spend it! You won't regret your purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably beautiful, September 12, 2009

I'm a self-described movie score expert. I have nearly a thousand; and it's really all I listen to. This soundtrack, even among other Jerry Goldsmith scores, is among the BEST (it joins my personal favorites of "Jurassic Park", "Star Wars", "Forrest Gump", "The Patriot" and "Star Trek: First Contact") I've ever heard.

It's obviously a difficult score to find (well, maybe not hard to find, but expensive to buy)--but I believe it's worth every penny. There are only 8 tracks, and the basic theme is exactly the same--but it's so unbelievably beautiful, I can't help listening to it over and over and over and over. You should buy it. Right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy listening at it's best., June 13, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Powder (1995 Film) (Audio CD)
The soundtrack from Powder is as easy and fun to listen to as the movie was to watch. Goldsmith does a wonderful job (as usual) weaving the theme in and out of this CD. I put it on to relax at the end of a hard day to wind down. The movie was so well photographed that the images still come to me as I shut my eyes and listen to Jerry work his magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, July 19, 1998

I think that this CD is one of the best in my collection. Anyone who puts this down is crazy and really hasn't listened to the music (or doesn"t really understand it). The music as well as the movie is VERY well done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rate the music not the movie!, March 18, 2003
This review is from: Powder (1995 Film) (Audio CD)
... If you take the music by itself, it's a beautiful score with a sad tone. If you like Goldsmith's action this is not for you. One thing I don't like about Goldsmith albums, is that they are too short or missing music from the film!!! ... You buy a score if you like the music, who cares about it's relation to the movie. ...

4.0 out of 5 stars A masterful depiction of melody where heart and mind meld., October 28, 1999
This review is from: Powder (1995 Film) (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is less of a complement to the film, rather an extention of it's very essence. I dare say perfection was reached. Yet I dare not think it. This movie had it's flaws. This soundtrack did not. Jerry Goldsmith will indeed take his place in our children's history books as the greatest composer of OUR time. Movies are merely the vehicle he uses to create.....and just a personal note here. I enjoyed Powder. I own Powder on VHS. People who can pick a movie apart with such intensity probally can't appreciate much in life anyway. Thanks..Tim Irvine

If you love the score then listen to Sarah Brightman sing the theme song on her "Time to say goodbye" CD. Called "Noone like you". It just grabs your heart and soul and takes to your new heights.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Powder (1995 Film) (Audio CD)
I enjoyed the movie Powder, and I loved the music. Because it has been discontinued, I paid more than I have most CDs I have purchased. This was worth every penny. The music in hauntingly beautiful. I could listen to this over and over again. This again is one of the CDs I feel fortunate to have in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack Lover, January 21, 2008
This review is from: Powder (1995 Film) (Audio CD)
By far Jerry goldsmiths finest and hauntingly greatest pieces of music score that "I" have heard in years. Jerry Goldsmith has composed and scored some of the greatest movie themes in cinema hitory, such as Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Chinatown to name but a few. With the Powder Score Jerry Goldsmith is at his finest hour and "I" believe any other great movie composers would agree that the score to Powder would be hard to eclipse. With this "beautiful music" Jerry Goldsmith allows you for a moment to believe there is still "goodness and hope in humanity"... To the late Jerry Goldsmith, "THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES". Great CD.
