We put together our new island last night. Easy assembly, maybe took about 30 minutes start to finish. I should add that my husband assembled it himself, I just watched :)
I am impressed with the quality of the piece, very sturdy. The rubber feet keep the piece from sliding all around the kitchen, which is nice. The paint finish is matte, and the wood finish is nicely done.
The work surface is not solid butcher block, it's about an inch thick. I think that's what kept the price from being outrageous. The top of the butcher block is a bunch of small strips, kind of looks like a mosaic. It is a really nice touch!
One of the side panels was a little damaged, the black paint was cracking in a few spots. I called Powell customer service, and spoke to someone within 5 minutes, who offered to send us a replacement free of charge. Refreshingly uncomplicated customer service!
Assembled, the piece is the perfect height (almost exactly as high as our countertops), and size (the lower shelf holds my Kitchenaid mixer and a basket full of cookbooks.) The basket drawers are deeper and roomier than I expected. One holds my dishtowels and cloths, the other holds all my mixer attachments. The only thing I'm not crazy about are the hooks for the hanging utensils, as I keep all mine in a canister on the counter. For now, they're hanging there for looks, but I will soon be removing them - I do have pot holders hanging on one of the hooks which is more convenient. I like my utensils to be right beside the stove.
This is a sturdy island, which added some much needed counter space to our kitchen, as well as makes it look "complete." I am very happy with our purchase!

A bit time consuming to assemble, but this butcher block is sturdy, heavy duty and looks awesome. I've had mine for 5 months. It gets lots of compliments. I wish it had come with casters, though. We added them so I can roll it around in the kitchen, but it took a bit of effort and money as you need heavy duty casters for this heavy unit. The wooden utensils are a bit cheesy, but the butcher block was a good value for the money.

I am amazed at how nice this butcher block looks --- it looks expensive -- it was easy to assemble -- perfect size, color, and very sturdy -- i have been looking for months for the perfect island.... and this is it! Plus it was delivered in one week! Love it!

While I wish this island would have been more affordable, around $300 - $350, we are pleased with our purchase. There was a scratch on one of the legs and one of the bottom slats was not attached (can't tell when laying flat), but easy to assemble, super fast and great delivery, and just what we needed in our small kitchen!

I had been eying this kitchen island for probably six months. All the reviews were positive and I'm happy to say that it lived up to the reviews. My husband and brother in law put it together easily in an hour (I would recommend doing it with two people). It is such a stand out island compared to anything else I researched (and I researched islands A LOT). It provides maximum counter space without taking up too much room in my relatively small kitchen. And it's just beautiful looking.

The only negative about this island is that it took three tries to actually buy it. The first two times I ordered it I waited a couple weeks before receiving a message from the seller that they were sorry but the product is unavailable. That was really annoying, especially if you're in the market for a kitchen island NOW. However, I like this island too much to give it anything less than 5 stars.

**One more thing, there are no stoppers on the drawers, so if you pull them out enough they just fall out of the island. Just something to consider if you have small kids underfoot.

The butcher block is nicer than I expected. Good quality. Very well made. Great addition to my kitchen. I have received nothing but compliments from everyone who has seen it. Very easy to build. I spent about 20 minutes start to finish. Packaged well. Would recommend it to everyone. I just love it!!!!!!!

Arrived in just a few days! Packaging was perfect! Instructions were easy to understand. It took my 12 year old son and I about 20 minutes to put it together. The unit is sturdy and heavy and looks expensive! It fits perfect in our kitchen and I like the baskets to store towels, etc. Good quality for the money! Very happy!

Very easy to assemble. I love the cavernous basket drawers and the large bottom shelf. I also placed my Kitchenaid mixer on the bottom shelf like the other reviewer. My husband replaced the 4 hooks with 2 towel bars (see customer image above). This provides better utility for my purposes; I keep my utensils near the cooktop as well. This unit replaced an island that was well used (16 years old) and I'm happy that this new unit does not have casters. Our previous unit had casters but we never moved it around. I think the legs without casters adds to the sturdy nature of this product. I'm very pleased with our purchase.

I am very happy with my purchase of this product. Once put together it is very solid and goes well with my kitchen decor. Assembly was not particularly easy, but fairly straightforward. I'm a happy cooker with this product.
