5.0 out of 5 stars Very Soft wheels....excellent old school style,too, September 22, 2007
Powell quality all the way. When you need a soft wheel, this is a great choice. They are so soft you can pop the bearings in by hand. I use a set of these on a ditch board for rough terrain.
Very good price

Good for cruising the streets. I'd heard they're good for ditches, but I haven't skated one yet. I'm afraid to lose some speed in the concrete parks. I still love the Rat Bones wheels as I have the 85A, 90A and 97A. Killer wheels reissued by Powell Peralta.

That is what a kid 30 years my junior said when he tried my board that had these. I even compared them on smooth asphalt with my real old-school Sims B-52s with Swiss bearings and they are much faster! The smaller wheels on most modern skateboards make popping ollie style tricks easier, but for practically everything else, these rule! And these are made in the USA too.

Update 1/20/2011:

I setup 3 skateboards. My Rat Bones board (Powell Daggers deck with Indy 169's), a new school board with Indy 139's and nice Bones STF 53MM wheels, and a Sector 9 Longboard:

1. New School - Easiest to pop Ollies and do modern kick-flip style tricks. The small, lightweight Bones STF wheels really work well here. Skating the downhill parking lot into the skate park, it is good for about 10MPH all the way down. I complete the frontside turn at the bottom and basically stop at the small drainage ditch before entering the park. Kind of boring.

2. Rat Bones: Start heading down the downhill parking lot. It is a cold day and I have the park all to myself. As my speed increases I can start to feel the windchill. About halfway down I'm going a little faster than the new school board. Cool. Wait a second! I am still going faster - too fast to jump off and I still got a way to go before making the turn. I think I am in trouble. I hit the turn still accelerating and thinking I am about to eat it really bad. A hard longboard style frontside turn slows me enough that I can ollie over the ditch and into the park and up the volcano. The Rat Bones are also faster in every part of the concrete park, especially the pool and half-pipe.
3. Longboard - Sector 9 boards and wheels are also made in the US like Powell decks, Rat Bones and Indy trucks. It is a longboard - well suited for high speed carving and a smooth ride. The Sector 9 wheels are smoother than the Rat Bones but slightly slower.

Bottom line: For most types of general riding, these wheels are Da Bomb! Get a set. You might have to use 1/4" risers to avoid wheel bite. Also, be careful the first time you skate something that you are used to in new school wheels. You might find yourself going a lot faster!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent wheels!, May 17, 2009

These are the best wheels I have ever had! I have had them for over a month and they are very durable. They are sort of an intermediate hardness. They're great for just cruising around town or dropping by your local park. They're big enough to absorb those little bumps and cracks in the road that cause you to "eat it" but still light enough for pulling off some flip tricks. Overall, they are excellent. I use them with some ABEC 9 Bullseye Bearings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Wheels, January 30, 2012

I like these wheels a lot, I bought them for an old school board I bought because I wanted that classic look. They are soft enough for cruising yet hard enough to make for easy slides. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is because I haven't gotten the chance to see how long they will last, but they aren't too expensive so it's not that big of a deal if they don't last that long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great wheels, January 26, 2012

I only learned how to skateboard while on the tail end of my college years. Kinda lack the coordination to pull of any tricks (cant for the life of me figure out how to ollie) so I just use a regular skateboard deck for transportation whenever I visit my friend and have to park a few blocks away. These wheels are great, small pebbles that used to send me flying are rolled over. I used to be nervous going town sidewalk curbs (the part that's sloped) with my 52mm wheels. These 60mm are much easier over those kinds of obstacles.

Recently skated them with Bones Red bearings. It was a nice smooth ride. I usually skate 52mm and with these i could feel a lot faster. Soft, high quality wheels.
