I didn't see anywhere in the write-up that these are for auto use only. I was trying to get a set of two wireless headphones that could be used by two people to individually control the volume while watching TV or DVD's. If you are looking for anything other than car use, these are not for you.

Well they look good and are comforable, but they suck. I instlalled these on my boss flip down dvd player in my truck for my kids and was excited to know that i would now have my radio back, but then i turned them on and sound was terrible and the static was so bad that you could barely hear the video. I did not feel good leaving them in, even though my son said it was not bothering him, I didn't want to have his hearing damaged from the terrible quality that the sound was............Comfort yes, quality NO!

Nothing in the description indicated that there is no power source included. The transmitter has 2 wires coming out that you have to connect to 12 volt transformer to plug into the wall. You have to be an electrician to figure this one out! Also the ear phones have a buzz in the background that is a bit annoying.

I bought these headphones to replace some I was using in the car for the kids. These are MUCH sturdier than the ones I replaced, and they fold flat, which is a bonus. But the best surprise of all is the sound quality. Again, much better than the old headphones I replaced. NOTE: I did not use the transmitter that comes in this package, so I can't comment on it. But I love the headphones and plan to order more.

Don't buy this peace of crap if you are thinking about using this device anywhere other than in your car. It needs power source to work but has no battery compartment. It only has 2 wires attached that need to be connected to the car electrical system.

We were able to use the headphones immediately in the car without using the transmitter. We will need to be careful not to damage the ear pieces, as they seem a little fragile where they swivel, but the cases they come in will be great for storage and will prolong the life of the headphones. Having the lay flat is a nice feature.

This is a good item and you can make it work for TV or computer use, HOWEVER.... It has a major problem, it does not come with a power supply for the transmitter. Apparently it is set up as a car accessory with 12 volt leads to tie into your car's audio systems. You need a 12 volt power supply and some way to hook it to the bare wires leading from the transmitter. I ended up at Radio Shack and bought a 12 volt DC 1.5 amp power supply that could have been included in the original box and would have allowed it to be used in a home. Then I ended up buying an ending to put on the bare wires that in the vague directions are marked as plus and minus and DC 12V. I put this all together and matched up the polarity and it works.

There are also the red and white female stereo ends as leads out of the the transmitter so if you think you are going to plug it directly into the audio jack of your laptop, television, or the headphone jack on your car you are sadly mistaken. You are going to need an audio cable and an adapter for your 1/8" jack. All in all, you probably have some of these necessary items at home, but will most likely spend about $40 on parts (including the power supply) to complete. Frustrating!

These problems aside, it is an inexpensive solution to two headsets and works rather nicely. I like the button on the side of the phones that turn off the sound so you can listen to someone talk to you. My parents got this as a gift from me and they like the fact that dad can turn his up so he can hear the sound, and mom can have a more reasonable level.

The other thing you need to understand is this is an Infrared transmitter. You need to maintain line of sight with the transmitter to have it work. The upside of this process is there is practically no interference as long as connections are clean, it is not transmitting a radio signal.

If one individual is "hard of hearing" and the other is not this product gives two headphones so that both can be comfortable with the sound setting. It gives versatility to your hearing needs.

First off, I bought these to work with an overhead video screen that already has an IR transmitter in it, so I didn't use the IR transmitter at all. The headphones come with a semi-hard case that is pretty easily stowed under a bench seat or in a seat-back pocket. The design seems good and sturdy enough. They are a little big for small children. I have a pretty big head and don't need to extend these or stretch them out much like on other units. They are comfortable on me, but again, small kids might have problems keeping them on. Sound quality isn't exactly audiophile, but it is what you would expect in this price range. Compared to SSL SHP IR headphones, these have about the same range before they get static and sound is similar, however the SSL units have a deeper tone to them with more bass and the padding on the earphones is a little stiffer, so it helps to muffle car noise better. Volume level is about the same as well. I like the sound and fit of the SSL headphones better, but I like these since they fold up and store better.
