4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value
Pro:
*Very, very thick power and ground cable. Seems to be of good quality. Extremely Rugged.
*3000 watts rated. Severe overkill for my application, but I doubt my amp will complain (though I will have to get a smaller fuse.)
*Lots of connectors included
*RCA cable is shielded, seemingly of good quality.
*Speaker cable is impressive, 12g, better...

3.0 out of 5 stars This is not 2 Guage
It says 2 guage but the package i recieved definitely was not a 2 Guage. On the wires themselves they say 2 Guage but it's at best a 4 gauge. Don't get me wrong, I think its a good deal still especially with the free shipping. If you need to wire more then one amp then this isn't what you want.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, January 24, 2008
This review is from: Power Acoustik KIT-2G 2-Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit (Electronics)
*Speaker cable is impressive, 12g, better than some home theatre wiring. As previously noted, however, there is only 20 feet of it, not 33 as stated in the 'details.'
*Free shipping (and quick, too)
*Cheap! (26$ vs 80$+ for Monster 1000w, and that's a 4&8 gauge kit)

Con:
*Fuse holder arrived with a chipped cap, so the rubber seal is loose. Might compromise water-tightness, but could easily (if unattractively) be solved with a bit of electrical tape. I am pursuing the possibility of a replacement cap with Amazon.
*Ground cable shorter than advertised, closer to 2 feet.
*Fuse holder allen screws are apparently metric. Inconvenient, as I only have standard.

Neutral:
*Severely overpacked, as Amazon often does. Arrived in a 12"x12"x10" box filled with air bags. Wasteful.
*Included rubber grommets are too large for the cable. Easily replaced at any hardware store.
*Split loom feels a bit cheap, but I had no intention of using it.

Overall I would recommend this item. Thick, quality cable, everything included to wire a single amp, at a very competitive price. Despite the chipped fuse holder and shorter-than-advertised ground cable, I would buy again. Would have gotten five stars but for these two issues.

EDIT: After contacting Amazon customer support, they had a replacement in the mail for me before sunset. Incredible customer service!

2.0 out of 5 stars DANGEROUS! Equivalent to a 6 gauge wire!!!, September 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Power Acoustik KIT-2G 2-Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit (Electronics)
Just receiving the kit today I went ahead and measured the gauge of the wire to confirm what others had complained about the misrepresented gauge of the wire. The copper strands that are encased within the extra thick insulation was about 4mm wide in diameter. That translates to about a 6 gauge wire. The cross sectional area therefore will only be safe for currents about only 1/3 (or less) than a 2 gauge wire. If you use this I suggest you only use this for a system that is only 400 watts and use a 40amp fuse instead of the ridiculous 80amp fuse they supply you with. The wires can still be used, but only for amp setups that require far less wattage that it states.

AGAIN BOTTOM LINE: THIS KIT IS THE EQUIVALENT TO A 6 GAUGE WIRE. USE IT ONLY TO POWER 400 WATTS OR LESS (assuming you use about the full length 17')

Other thoughts. All the other accessories that come with it are decent. The in-line fuse housing looks easily breakable and may not last too long with the heat of the engine bay. Just because it looks cool does not mean you should install it inside the car. If the wires have too much going to them, you want the fuse to pop under the bay rather than having the wire burn your interior carpeting. The black wire protector is weak (thin walls) but it will do I suppose.

I read the reviews and decided to get this since I needed a 4 gauge power cable. I was hoping to compensate by buying a 2 gauge kit. It still was not enough.

This is blatant false advertisement that could cause an electrical fire in a car. This is not a matter of quality but actual QUANTITY, you expect to purchase a yard stick but all you get is a 12-inch ruler. You would seriously have to have 3 of these cables to equal the total cross-sectional surface area of a 2 gauge wire.

Hopefully I can post up a picture of the measured core diameter as a customer image.

3.0 out of 5 stars Power cable is only 17'....not 20' as listed, June 23, 2005
This review is from: Power Acoustik KIT-2G 2-Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit (Electronics)
The product description says that the power cable is 20' long. I opened the kit and noticed that the power cable couldn't reach my trunk. Then I read the front of the kit, and I found out that the power cable is only 17' long. 17' of power cable should be long enough for most cars, but if you drive an SUV or a long car (like my linc. towncar), you'll most likely come up short.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product for the money, February 21, 2006
This review is from: Power Acoustik KIT-2G 2-Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit (Electronics)
The Description is a little off but for the price paid - this is a great kit - the description states that the wire is 2 gauge - maybe the insulation makes it that thickness but the actual wire itself is only 4 gauge wire - other than that - a very well put together kit - everything for what you need - 17 feet went from my battery to the capacitor in my trunk of my Grand Cherokee - but I needed to go out and buy another two feet for the connection between the capacitor and the amp - I'd definately recommend it to anyone just trying to hook up an amp and not looking for show or overkill

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, September 15, 2009
This review is from: Power Acoustik KIT-2G 2-Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit (Electronics)
I have installed lots of systems and found that though this wire has the size of a 2 gauge appearance from the outside, the actual copper is more like a 6-8 gauge. Disappointed. The shipping and service was excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars good product, September 17, 2005
This review is from: Power Acoustik KIT-2G 2-Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit (Electronics)
this is very good product but the length of the power cord is a little short it is a 17ft power cord and a 3 ft ground cable. the power cord nearly fits into my trunk of my oldsmobile cutlass supreme. otherwise great product for price @ best buy the price just for the agu fuse holder is twenty dollars and its a 8-4 awg holder not a 2 awg holder that comes with this one i bought here. So very good product but could use a little more length.

Also, it was delivered pretty fast.

I agree that this is more like 4-6 gauge wire with an abnormally thick jacket. That said, this is still a good kit and all you need for a moderately powered subwoofer. Kit is nice and complete with good (not great) components. I would buy again and it is certainly better than what I could get locally.

3.0 out of 5 stars good value purchase, December 14, 2007
This review is from: Power Acoustik KIT-2G 2-Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit (Electronics)
this was my first purchas for wiring. it was a very cheep package that came with everything needed. my only complaint is the interconnects provided are not of high quality. they produced awfull scratching noises caused from the oddest things, like turning on the air conditioning on high or turning the fog lights on and off. my recomendation is that if you buy this kit, that you replace the interconnects with some Monster interconnects. after switching to monster my system performed perfect.
