Being an experienced practitioner of shamanic journeying (it all started with Michael Harner's workshop some years ago)- I am sick of the bastardized variety of mind-altering and journeying CD's on the market. But, this one comes as a refreshment. Dr.Whitaker's deeply suggestive voice leads you to The Realm of Power Animals and Spirit Helpers, and from there - you can fly. Though used to the traditional "solo and double drumming" (traditional shamanic journeying aid), I am really surprised to learn how effectively the sonic power of "The Voice of the Shaman" intensifies the journeying experience. If you are about to seriously venture into shamanic practice, this CD is a MUST.

I make weekly or bi-weekly personal tune-ups using this CD. Initially, I used the journey to find my power animal -- a relationship I'm still exploring, but the metaphor of that relationship is quite powerful, and helpful in my life. Now I use the same journey CD, but go on soul retrievals, or on expeditions with my power animal to find an answer to a specific question. The results have been surprising: useful, grounding, information or sensation-packed. I appreciate the format of the CD; the ability to have a "voice" and "format" to follow, and a call back at the end. Not to mention great drumming. I highly recommend this investment.

...I did check the web site again ...And guess what? It's STILL under construction. Coming soon, it says. Not a mortal sin, after all, but any company who seriously conducted regular business would not leave their web site down for more than a month. It's not even a company generated web page, but one put up by Network Solutions...

...who would want to have to call a company to get all this background information? I didn't notice a phone number on the back of the CD, toll-free or even a toll one!

I felt the buyer should have been warned that before using it, the liner notes recommended that one be familiar with 2 of the author's previous CD's. These are not actually required, but it says that "these ceremonies are profoundly more effective and far safer when performed inside the altar space. For instructions on building and disassembling this form of sacred space consult...another one of the author's CD's.

Likewise when recommending another one, you are advised that the ceremony should begin with a unique song of your own - which you can learn by buying another CD of hers. So you're left with the feeling that altho just having paid [money] for this, you're not getting the full effect - neither profoundly effective nor safe - because you're not about to cough up another [$$].

While the CD was good/OK, I was disappointed that I was supposed to buy two more in order to make this one function properly. Had this been stated up front, I might have been OK with it. But I doubt it. I bought this to sample the author's works. I also purchased Drumming to Journey By. I'm afraid to open it, wondering what more I'll be told I need to buy to make it work right too! All in all, *not* a waste of money altogether, altho I should have bought it used. I guess I'm just not thrilled about the marketing techniques.

This CD is from 1999 and on the back the author's web site is recommended but I was disappointed to find that it's still "under construction". Apparently never got off the ground in 4 years. One wonders just how successful these are if there's no site of any kind for a following...

This is one of my favorite journeys. I loved finding out my own power animal for myself. Before this CD I had not felt much credibility in my power animal search when pulling a card from a deck or being told by someone else who my power animal was. I wanted first-hand experience and I got it from this journey. I now feel my power animal with me all the time and gain a lot of support and guidance from it. Moreover, I was able to find missing spirit pieces of myself. The deep longing and emptiness I felt before are gone. It's great to be all of me again! I use this CD frequently to connect with my power animal and to quest for knowledge that I need for daily living.

The ceremony on this CD is absolutely incredible!! Instead of relying on a class or somebody else to find my power animal for me - which were both unsuccessful - I used this CD and found my friend for myself and establish a very intimate relationship with him...

As for the other CDs that are mentioned in the CD jacket of this one, I can't remember seeing a jacket where the publisher didn't mention their other products. These CDs are also not required. But if you're curious about this fascinating material don't hesitate to look them up. They are worth the effort.

I'm personally very glad the other CDs were mentioned in the jacket - I looked them all up on Amazon and have since gotten all of them and if I could I would give them all, including this one, more than five stars.

I'm seriously impressed with the meticulous attention to detail in creating these CDs (and I'm basically a skeptical, slightly obnoxious, prove-it-to-me kind of guy). And I'm impressed with their striving to provide what I believe to be the most effective material for journeying and meditation available today - if I could succeed with this material anybody can. It is absolutely astounding and deserves the highest admiration and respect.

Did I mention their new website?

I bought this CD because I had previously experienced a problem with power animal meditation. This CD is the cure. I cannot express how pleased I am with the results. I have three other Tapes and CD'S on the same subject and this one is far superior. I plan on owning more Kay Whitaker material in the near future. This material delivered everything it promised and more. It's worth every penny.

This is an excellent instrument for journeyers at their first experience. Also, it has been smartly designed for those who, like me, don't journey regularly, and "pop" on the other side without a precise idea of what to do. In my experience it supports safe journeying. I recommend this CD without hesitation.

This CD was worth every cent. It was the most comprehensive and effective of all journey CDs in my collection. The production is wonderful. I will use it often to strengthen my connection to the natural world.

For anyone who journey's. Do not go into this without some guidance. There is a right and a wrong way to journey, read and learn before trying it, but then use this cd.

Maybe it's my own fault. I thought I was ordering a CD with a major component of drumming only. When I received the CD I was disappointed to find that the woman talked through much of the first two sections on the CD. I'm sure if you are looking for an oral guided journey, you might be able to use this one, but I was disappointed in too much talk.
