Power Animal Oracle Cards: Practical and Powerful Guidance from Animal Spirit Guides

Based on the excellent book and CD set of the same name, Power Animal Oracle Cards by Steven Farmer provides a simple but useful divination tool for accessing guidance from animal spirits. While the book addressed thirty-six animals, the deck features 44 cards including land animals, birds, insects, reptiles, and water creatures.

The eight animals that are not in the book but are in the Power Animal Oracle Cards are:

* Koala
* Monkey
* Salmon
* Badger
* Moose
* Antelope
* Pelican
* Porcupine

Each card features an artistic rendering of the animal along with a title and a brief advisory statement. For example, Cougar encourages confidence with "Be bold and take charge" while Butterfly augurs transformation with "Get ready for a big breakthrough".

The 120-page companion booklet covers consecrating your deck, clearing unwanted energy, doing readings, accessing intuition, and more. Mr. Farmer shows you how to use the Power Animal Oracle Cards in a variety of ways including reading for others, using the deck as a "lie detector" when on the phone, and invoking a specific animal on an as-needed basis. He also explains the Past/Present/Future reading, as well as how to read reversals. A mini-portrait of the cards accompanies channeled messages from each animal, further highlighting the message and associations for each spirit helper. Farmer advises relying on intuition and body signals before consulting the booklet, encouraging readers to access their own wisdom by decoding insights, visions, and feelings.

During my first experience using these cards, I was shuffling them while standing up, looking for a general message. My husband was beside me, and it just so happened that two cards flew out of the deck and onto the ground. Realizing that this is usually sign to pay extra attention, my husband picked them up. Upon seeing the animals, he took one for him, and gave the other to me. It just so happened that the animal that wanted to "speak" to him happened to be one that he has felt an affinity for since childhood, often using it as a subject for various artistic creations. My card spoke directly to an issue that's been central to my consciousness for several weeks, and *specifically* echoed wisdom delivered from other oracles and sources!

I've used the deck a few times since then, and found the Power Animal Oracle Cards to be accurate. However, some of the animals in the deck, like Whale, don't seem to match thematically with the book Power Animals - How to Connect with Your Animal Spirit Guide.

This deck is a good supplement to the Power Animals book (although I prefer the book/CD), as well as for general readings using messages from the animal kingdom. However, for deeper animal wisdom from the Celtic tradition, I recommend The Druid Animal Oracle by Philip Carr-Gomm, featuring the exquisite artwork of Will Worthington.

This is an exceptionally well-done card deck. The cards are attractive and the messages are helpful, thought provoking and consistently right on track. I used them with a group of 10 friends and each of us selected the "perfect" card that gave us the exact message we neeeded in that moment. We were all struck by the power of the messages and how the message not only made sense and provided guidance but actually spoke to our souls as well. We were deeply touched by the experience and are committed to using the cards on a daily basis.

If you are looking for some insight to the unknown that we are always so afraid to confront, these cards will bring an abundance of positive energy to you. No matter what issues, or maybe no issues, you may be experiencing, each animal passes along an "aha" moment and sheds light upon your essence. They are simple and they provide an energy that can heal, create, and explore.

I am a Native American and have been drawn to my spirit guides for many years. I have not really known how to go about reaching them exceptfor the usual channeling them on my own.
I happened to stumble on a lovely store that was featuring these cards, the owner was there and after speaking to her she asked why I was there, she said she never asks that but found I did not fit the typical customer.
To be honest I had no intention of going to this shop but found myself drawn in.
It became apparent very quickly why I was there. She walked over to the counter and picked up a brand new box of Power Animals and asked if I may be looking for these. She told me that she bought tham last year and never sold them before and hoped she was holding them for me.
That might be very possible. I purchased them and since then my world has changed for the better, and mind you I was very happy before.
I have been reading for myself and found that I only draw on about 10 cards. These cards are the only cards that are my Guides. I thought something was wrong until I started doing readings for others, mostly without them being present. (I never told anyone what I read for another person.) For different readings I found I was pulling different cards for each other person, some cards were the same but mostly I was pulling cards that were for that person. When I told a few friends that I gave a reading and told them they would stand with their mouths open in response to how acurate these cards are.

Although I am a believer in Spirits I was not sure about the cards until now. It is a bit odd to pull out a card and have it look in my soul.
I am now interested in going further. I want to learn more but I will still use these lovely cards to guide me always.

The best part about these cards for me is that boys and men aren't turned 0ff by them ! My five year old in particular is intrigued by them and then made his own animal deck by cutting out animals out of a book and gluing them on index cards and making up his own meaning for each one based on what he thought the animal was doing in the picture.
They are a great introduction to people turned off by oracle cards ! Who doesn't love animals and who doesn't have a special animal they have felt close to?

As I shuffle,. I can explain to my readee about spirits of animals, and they get into it ! I have actually had very good readings with these cards also, and sometimes my readee finds their own meaning in the cards they chose (even better for them !)

Another use for these cards is if I feel I need a particular animal with me, I pull out the card and place it where I can see it or carry it in my purse. And sometimes one of my kids will ask me which animal spirit will help them on something, a problem or project, and we pull a card or more and they like to hear about the animal "helpers" on the other side.
They almost always "fit". Like when my son was sick, he pulled the snake card, the healer.

My one com plaint is that I wish there were MORE than just 44 cards, and my personal totem or power animal wasn't in there, the Ostrich.

Every animal is important and has things to offer you. DOn't dismiss an animal just because it wasn't what you expected or wanted. If you leave your mind open you will realize that that animal was perfect for you, whether it be your personal power animal or just an animal spirit here to teach a lesson.


THis card deck was bought for fun to add to my oracle decks, but it led me to study more about animal spirits and I now have several books on them and journeying with animals.

I had ordered Steven Farmer's Animal Spirit Guides book last year. My book is well worn and marked in the places that resonate with me. Over the weekend, I was at Border's and saw this deck. I just had to have it!
I ordered it immediately from Amazon and got them today. These cards are indeed accurate. I am a psychic, but I keep that from mostly everyone. I have clients via word of mouth. But other than that, no one really knows. After blessing this deck and asking the cards to give me a message in regards to my psychic ability. The "Raven" card fell out not once but twice. So I know this was a definite message from Spirit. After I read the book meaning, I was blown away.. Raven-own your power.
It seemed as if this message was what I needed. And it is Spirit's way of telling me that is time to come out of the closet fully.

I love these cards and I am glad I followed my intuiton on purchasing them.

I use these cards everyday and have done some readings for other people.. Still learning how to use them.. but I love them.

The simplicity of this card-deck is very nice. I have enjoyed working with the deck and reading the brief explanations in the included guidebook.

I really enjoy these cards. The pictures on them are awesome and the book included is pretty informative about each power animal. I only wish it included more on different spreads to use with them.

These cards are very helpful to ascertain one's power animal at a certain time. Power animals change over time due to situations/circumstances. These are great spirit guides to help anyone through situations in their life. These have been right on for me since I have recieved them. Dr. Steven Farmer provides us with great products for guidance.
