Book Description

June 1, 1952
** SAME BOOK - LOWER price! **
2009 Reprint of 1952 first edition.
DeVorss Publications Edition includes Neville's later Notes

THE POWER OF AWARENESS allows those who rebelled against a regid religious upbringing to renew some of the images etched in their consciousness, only in a more loving, positive and universal way. Neville shows how change of consciousness is the critical factor in life, for consciousness is the only reality, the first and only cause-substance of the phenomena of life.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Neville Goddard was one of the quietly dramatic and supremely influential teachers in the New Thought field for many years...In a simple, yet somehow elegant one-hour lecture, Neville was able to clarify the nature of God and God's relationship to every person. He spoke of God in intimate terms as though he knew god very well, which he did. --Roy Eugene Davis

A solid inspirational volume, most useful for people ready to make a big change. --Napra Review

About the Author

Born in Barbados, West Indies, Neville came to the United States to study drama at the age of seventeen. In 1932 he gave up the theater to devote his attention to his studies in mysticism when he began his lecture career in New York City. After traveling throughout the country, he eventually made his home in Los Angeles where, in the late 1950s, he gave a series of talks on television, and for many years, lectured regularly to capacity audiences at the Wilshire Ebell Theater.

Although Neville s career peaked in the late 1950s and early 60s, his message continues to find a place in the hearts of spiritual readers throughout the world today. Neville Goddard was one of the more quietly dramatic and supremely influential teachers in the New Thought field for many years.

5.0 out of 5 stars To Pray or Not to Pray?, October 22, 2005
This review is from: The Power of Awareness (Paperback)
Neville's system is simple, easy to apply, and --- most importantly --- effective. Like many esoteric writers of his generation (the so-called "New Thought" movement), he frequently quotes the Bible to make his point. However, his point is usually 180 degrees removed from the traditional interpretation of the cited passage. Like another reviewer, I was initially put off by the constant references to "Holy Scripture". I kept asking myself why Neville felt the need to validate his system by appealing to authority. Once I got beyond my own mental hang-ups, I was able to appreciate fully what Neville was saying... and to apply it.

I'm now a big Neville fan, and have read several of his other books. But "Power of Awareness" is probably the only one you need to read. It lays out the entire system clearly and concisely.

By the way, anyone familiar with Israel Regardie (Golden Dawn) may appreciate knowing that he agreed with and approved of Neville's system ... but felt that most people lacked the simplicity and native imagination to use it as effectively as Neville was able to do. For such people, Regardie maintained that ritual work and a broader occult background was necessary.

As someone suspicious of ritual (talk about giving unnecessary deference to our religious heritage!) and tending to believe that most 'occult powers' are misunderstood manifestations of our own unconscious being, I much prefer Neville's approach.

5.0 out of 5 stars 101 of Spiritual Life and Success..., April 25, 2004
This review is from: The Power of Awareness (Paperback)
I truly believe that if I should require everyone to read but one book, this would be it. The author has said that he intented this book to be the simplest and easiest to apply that he has the power to make... and he has truly succeeded in writing such a great book.

The question on many people's lips is this: "I have read so many books, why should I read another?" Although you may be all done and read dynamo, this book is for you. It may not be as advanced as many other books Neville has written, but it certainly is the best guidebook to inspire, encourage and lift you up to the full potential by increasing your awareness of the power that can fulfill all of your dreams.

The special chapter on failure and what you can do in order to avoid failing is also something every serious truth student will find helpful.

Naturally, the only minus for this book comes from the fact that it mentions no word about the promise, but we can forgive that as the book was originally written in 1950s before Neville's more advanced years of teaching.

The author also provides a number of helpful exercises that you can use and in so doing, prove that this Truth is truly so. Don't just take my words for it, order the book and try it. I am sure that you won't be disappointed. You owe this much to yourself.

I have been on a spiritual journey for quite some time and I must say that this book makes me remember. I read this book almost four times in the last month and I would like to share and tell everyone I know about it. I have learned to wear kid gloves with people, and yet it all makes so much sense. There are people born knowing what they are going to do. I have not been one of them, but if you just watch someone who has a particular dream, you will see it happen, and we sit and wonder why we think we are victims, it is because we sit and think we are victims. Amazing book, everyone should read. Thats it, required school reading. I love it. Thank you Neville.
