Particularly and especially recommended for concerned and dedicated parents,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Power Brain Kids (Paperback)
The founder of 'The International Brain Education Association' and president of the Korean Institute of Brain Science, Ilchi Lee created the 'Brain Function' system designed to enhance the functioning of the human mind through a variety of training methods. In "Power Brain Kids: 12 Easy Lessons To Ignite Your Child's Potential", Lee lays out a basic three month program for children ages 6 to 12. The separate chapters offer specific exercises related to a particular aspect of brain ability that includes focus, creativity, and mind-body communication. the step-by-step instructions for each exercise are fully illustrated with color photography enabling parents to assist their children to develop better concentration, improve memory skills, gain the intellectual tools necessary for emotional self-control, activate creativity and imagination, establish connection between the mind and the body, cultivate confidence and enhance self-discipline. The 'reader friendly' text is nicely embellished with colorful and illustrative drawings. "Power Brain Kids" is particularly and especially recommended for concerned and dedicated parents wanting to prepare their children to take maximum advantage of their schooling, the social relationships, and their intellectual capacities.

Great book for kid yoga!,
This review is from: Power Brain Kids (Paperback)
I used this book when I taught yoga at a Montessori School here in Denver last year. It was extremely helpful - especially in it's emphasis on helping kids use their brains in new ways - specifically doing exercises that help integrate the right and left hemispheres of the brain.A lot of these exercises are also great for adults to increase their brain power and concentration level.

Wonderful resource for harmonious development of children,
By Olye (Westfield, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Power Brain Kids (Paperback)
This book is my indispensable resource for teaching kids not only kinesthetic intelligence through physical movement, but also emotional, social, ki energy, and inner intelligence. Though this book may seem simple and common sense to some, it contains pearls of wisdom which I keep discovering after consulting with it many many times.

The book is well organised and has good pictures. The material covered in this book is nothing new. Most of them are yoga poses, nothing new, the remaining few are also basic stretch exercises for kids. I liked this book better. - I Love Yoga (Yoga for Kids) [Hardcover] by Mary Kaye Chryssicas

Little science...lots of Yoga,

This review is from: Power Brain Kids (Paperback)
I was interested in this book because I've become aware of what a powerful affect movement can have on brain development, especially children. It is hard to get really detailed information on these exercises though without having to spend an arm and a leg. This book seemed to promise some of these exercises and implied they were based on scientific research but it seems to be mostly Yoga moves with just a few brain gym exercises that you can find elsewhere. That was a disappointment and I also feel that Yoga is really a religious practice so that was objectionable to me as a Christian. |
