1.0 out of 5 stars useless for anyone wanting to improve breaking, February 16, 2008

This review is from: Power Breaking: How to Develop and Use Breaking Skills for Self-Defense (Paperback)
If you are looking for a book to improve your breaking skills, this is not the one for you. There is a typical cheesy intro, a bunch of "exercises" to do, a picture of how to do pushups (but the form is not 100% as depicted). Once you wade through that material, you may come to find that there is little useful discussion on breaking. Application - you may say, "Oh, I never knew that a hammer fist could be used to hit a person in the nose" and then stare at all of the photos showing various techniques breaking, in most cases, one board (I wouldn't believe that less than 3 counts as a power break)... And if that part doesn't make you stop there, wait - there's more! Includes some knife self defense stuff and an attacker with a baseball bat - I don't know about you, but I don't hold the bat halfway up the body of the bat when I swing one as shown in the picture. Bottom line: if you are a competent martial artist that has successfully broken boards with several techniques and looking to expand your skills by understanding more about body position, alignment, and other things associated with the pure technique of smashing through lots o' boards: go somewhere else.
