I purchased this book for a paper in Depth Psychology on the symbolism of the bull. Rice's book IS WORTH the price tag -- his writing style is erudite and entertaining and his scholarship and use of references is thorough and well thought-out. The book also has a wealth of high-quality illustrations and the progression of chapters flows logically and seamlessly. I read the whole book in one day and it was a FASCINATING read -- combining (coincidentally) Depth Psychology insights into the progression of the psyche of man, and a thorough review of the Bull as a major player in myth as reflected in the archeological record, astronomy, literature, culture, and art. Highly recommended.
