Bad,

If I wanted a collection of clippings and press releases,
I would've gone to the library!!
In the introduction, Mr. Singular admits that his book is
based on varied sources and anonymous sources. But the real
give away was the fact that he was never able to meet Mr.
Ovitz himself. On the bright side, at least you knew that this
would be a boring ride from the start.
If you want a convenient collection on everything ever written
on Michael Ovitz. I guess we'll have to wait for the rumored
authorized biography to get a real glimpse on the man himself.
I mean this should've just gone straight to paperback.

This was a relatively comprehensive look into a fascinating Hollywood character, Michael Ovitz. Ovitz and a few of his colleagues at William Morris founded Creative Artists Agency in 1975 with a small business loan and a few card tables; 20 years later CAA was the biggest agency in all of Hollywood. His 'packaging' of actors, directors, and producers shifted filmmaking power back where it belonged: to the talent rather than the studios. Later he helped orchestrate some of the biggest mergers in entertainment business history.
While the book is dry, it is informative and interesting. I would recommened to that niche of people interested in learning more about the inner workings of Hollywood. A few links: [...]
