Editorial Reviews

Review

For the man in the street, the philosophies of opposites have served as a torture chamber, a crucifix made from metaphor....In this remarkable book, Dr. Atkinson shows us that these illusions of opposites serve only to keep us in the trap and that finally we can empower ourselves as well as others. --C.S. Hyatt, Ph.D.

This review is from: Power and Empowerment: The Power Principle (Paperback)
this is a self-help book dealing with power and empowerment. the struggle for power according to lynn atkinson is the root of every conflict. one of the aggravating things about this book is how many times atkinson makes reference to the standard college dictionary for definitions. most of us know what power is, or what success is. we really don't need definitions for them and the other words scattered throughout the book. atkinson looks at the sources of power, the success and problems power presents us. power in religion is looked at through christianity, hinduism, moslems, and buddhism. we also get our power from our parents, and learned it through their behaviors. "the meaning of life is found in the process of living." bottom line is we choose our own paths as ultimately it is ourselves we have to face. the book is roughly 120 pages long and can be read in a day or two. it's basic material we've all read before.
