Almost every child is told, You can do anything. But Jennifer Hudson is one of the few adults who has proven it. The Dunbar High School grad went from reality show also-ran to Academy Award winner, proving to the world -- and Simon Cowell -- what it means to be a Dreamgirl.

Hudson was only the third African American to make the cover of Vogue magazine, and has already completed work on her next film, Winged Creatures. Most recently, Hudson earned three nominations for BET awards.

She has the glow of success about her, but is so easy to relate to, says Rose Rosetree, the author of The Power of Face Reading and Aura Reading Through All Your Senses. She's the girl next door, with a gift that can blast through the roof,Rosetree says.

Our expert took a closer look at this Chicagoan, who's not going anywhere but up.

HER AURA

At the root chakra, Rosetree sees a passionate, honest, earthy person with a big heart. Most appealing, though: She also has a certain amount of vulnerability, she says.

It's her creativity chakra that is really seeing some action. She's literally a blast,Rosetree says.

She has a divine gift for waking people up that is very intense. It's not like she is particularly in control of it, but she knows how to allow it.

Hudson's power chakra is in conflict. In her human life, she's still learning how to think for herself; Rosetree says. But in her career, when she's singing, she feels graced and invincible. Her heart chakra is emotionally generous Rosetree says.

The throat chakra, of course, is magnificent. There is a divine presence Rosetree says. It reminds me of lightning. She has a big voice, and bigger power.

The spiritual life is encapsulated in the third eye chakra. She holds very tight in her beliefs says Rosetree. She has the third eye of a true believer, but it's full of fear. It's not nearly as expanded as what she experiences when she sings.

HER FACE

Several features leap out at our face reader. Jennifer has a nose bonus Rosetree says, that extra chunk of nose between and below her nostrils. That means that for her to stay motivated when working, she has to know that she's authentically helping people.

Hudson also has a delicate chin. That is about having a supersized conscience; says Rosetree. She cares more passionately than most people to walk her talk about religion.

Most fascinating: Hudson's smile. When you look carefully, you will see that her upper lip pulls way over to the left side of her face, and her lower lip pulls all the way over to the right side of her face, says Rosetree. That suggests that she is still coming to terms with how to be both her human self, which shows in her upper lip, and her public self, which shows in her lower lip.

In her personal life, Jennifer is trying to preserve a bit of privacy. But in public, she's making an extra effort to reach out and grab the audience.

Looking for Love in the all the wrong places? The path to true love may be as plain as the nose on your face. And the lips on your face. And the eyebrows on your face.

The ancient art of face reading can help gauge your compatibility with a prospective mate and give insight into improving existing relationships.

At least that's the belief of Rose Rosetree, a leading U.S. face reader and author of The Power of Face Reading (WIW, $18.98).

The face is a spiritual alphabet, Rosetree says. Reading it can teach you practical things, such as how a person makes decisions, spends money, works….

Forget Cupid's arrow. Reading faces is a more reliable way of finding love. But don't rely on looks alone when choosing a mate, Rosetree says.

Face reading can supplement other information, she says. It can tip you off to whether that eligible bachelor with be a dependable husband, or whether Ms. Blonde Ambition will empty your bank account.

If you're the unconventional type, look for a partner whose ears stick out, a sign of non-conformity. Think Ross Perot.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for Mr. Conservative, look for a mate with ears pressed close to the head.

Dumbo ears. Chipmunk cheeks. Pug noses. We all have features we'd like to change. But beware of the scalpel, Meltzer says. As your face changes, learn to love it. Wrinkles and lines show your wisdom.

What does my big nose say about the inner me, you ask? Didn't I just inherit it from my father?

There's more to your face than just genes, Rosetree says. Human faces aren't cosmic Mr. Potato Heads where you can pick and choose the pieces. That big nose may be a sign of a certain personality trait.

I believe each soul chooses from the gene pool those traits that most closely match the inner self, Rosetree says.

One of the world’s top physiognomists, Rosetree has built a career around the idea that facial structure can reveal character. -- The Boston Phoenix, May 2001, Chris Wright

The ultimate goal is to be more tolerant. Every person's face is worth reading. -- Washington Times, Feb. 8, 2001

They are two of the biggest names in politics and the main news source for Generation Y. Jon Stewart's The Daily Show, and Stephen Colbert's The Colbert Report, is must viewing for anyone who prefers a whopping dose of irony with their evening news.

It may not be straightforward -- but are the men themselves? Or is there more here than meets the eye?

That's what we asked Rose Rosetree, the author of The Power of Face Reading and Aura Reading Through All Your Senses.

She did back-to-back readings of the razor-sharp satirist and his celebrated protege. Compare, contrast and discuss amongst yourselves.

STEWART'S FACE

I call him Shiva-man, with an inner double chin, says Rosetree, and she assures us it will eventually make sense.

Starting with Stewart's face, take a look at his eyes. He has an especially close-set eye on the right side of his face.

That means that he pays minute detail to things, especially when he's working,Rosetree says. This quality comes in handy if you do satire or comedy; Rosetree points out that Jerry Seinfeld has the closest-set eyes I've ever seen on a human being.

And that mouth? Rosetree calls those blarney lips: The lower lip is about four times as big as his upper lip. That's about being super persuasive.

The most distinctive thing about Stewart, however, is his inner double chin. The comedian has some curvy lines within his face that give him an extra chin.It means that he's tough and very able to handle criticism, Rosetree says. He's got extra heavy padding around him. ....

COLBERT'S FACE

There are three main points Rosetree wants to make about Colbert's face.

See the zany, out-angled top on the right ear?she asks.

Right at the top, it bends all the way out. That's perfect, because what that means is that in his career, when he first meets people, when he starts any act -- he does the most outrageous thing he can think of. It's just something he needs to do.

If Colbert is thinking about plastic surgery anytime soon, Rosetree has one plea:

Don't get a lip job anytime soon,; she advises. It would destroy your humor.

Colbert has in-drawn lip texture, which results in a very rare communication style.

You never say things just to please people, she explains. You say them because they really come from deep inside.

Finally, note Colbert's tiny front teeth. Believe it or not, that means that this man has a small ego. That will make sense as we delve into his aura says Rosetree.

You can compare him either to Mother Teresa or Lucille Ball. And I'm sure he'd love being in that company. --PAIGE WISER for the Chicago Sun-Times, March 11, 2007

5.0 out of 5 stars Enhanced with more than one hundred illustrations, July 4, 2001
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
The Power Of Face Reading is a splendidly presented update on the 3,000 year old metaphysical art of physiognomy which can help us to be a better communicator, improve our relationship skills with others, as well as acquire and enhance our insights into the character, ability, and predilections of human beings. Rose Rosetree pioneered the techniques for this modern adaptation of an ancient science. Her accessible and "reader friendly" text is enhanced with more than one hundred illustrations, a lively question-and-answer format to help apply theory to practice; self-discovery assistance in perceiving our own greatest talents as revealed in our personal facial features; lively and insightful commentaries for some 500 celebrities ranging from Einstein to Oprah; and insights into this "New Age" technique for personal and relationship oriented self-improvement. Of special interest is the chapter about how sex is reflected in unexpected parts of the face. The Power Of Face Reading is a unique, novel, and fascinating addition to any metaphysical, self-help, and relationship skill building reference collection or reading list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Self Celebration!, May 13, 2001
I was first anxious to use face reading for insight when hiring employees. Now my entire family enjoys the benefits from reading this book! My kids, in understanding their teachers, my husband, in communicating with his patients and office staff, and I help young girls and women celebrate and understand what makes them special as I work with their hair and makeup. You'll enjoy great humor, and the best multisensory language, allowing easy understanding and application of physiognomy - the art of face reading! This book has taught appreciation for what I had previous labled as negative people. Problem finding and solving is a talent - the eyes will give you a clue! Read this great book and you will have the knowledge to appreciate your unique self and everyone you encounter!

4.0 out of 5 stars Will Keep You Coming Back, January 30, 2004
By Nick (Hampton, VA USA) - See all my reviews
Mrs. Rosetree does a great job at explaining really detailed and profound messages from what human facial features mean. Which is really hard to do. She gives life into areas where if they were explained any other way it would be hard to picture much less detail, specifically. The pictures aren't real live photos but the drawings are good to just give a general idea of certain areas. Celebrity examples help a lot because they are really easy to obtain their pictures and see the facial feature mentioned. You'll find yourself noticing face traits during the day while conversing with people. Face Reading is a great tool to know why exactly you picked your body and how to notice other people's talents as they relate to your own. Reading faces helps you better understand yourself and people you encounter. It's like reading a person's physical soul-make the physical part of their blueprint. It's always fun to test what you learn. It truly works and really is helpful.

Hopefully one day she'll put out another face traits book, just the little quirky things that are always nice to know but she has covered most of them. Highly recommended.
