5.0 out of 5 stars Enhanced with more than one hundred illustrations, July 4, 2001
This review is from: The Power of Face Reading (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
The Power Of Face Reading is a splendidly presented update on the 3,000 year old metaphysical art of physiognomy which can help us to be a better communicator, improve our relationship skills with others, as well as acquire and enhance our insights into the character, ability, and predilections of human beings. Rose Rosetree pioneered the techniques for this modern adaptation of an ancient science. Her accessible and "reader friendly" text is enhanced with more than one hundred illustrations, a lively question-and-answer format to help apply theory to practice; self-discovery assistance in perceiving our own greatest talents as revealed in our personal facial features; lively and insightful commentaries for some 500 celebrities ranging from Einstein to Oprah; and insights into this "New Age" technique for personal and relationship oriented self-improvement. Of special interest is the chapter about how sex is reflected in unexpected parts of the face. The Power Of Face Reading is a unique, novel, and fascinating addition to any metaphysical, self-help, and relationship skill building reference collection or reading list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Self Celebration!, May 13, 2001
I was first anxious to use face reading for insight when hiring employees. Now my entire family enjoys the benefits from reading this book! My kids, in understanding their teachers, my husband, in communicating with his patients and office staff, and I help young girls and women celebrate and understand what makes them special as I work with their hair and makeup. You'll enjoy great humor, and the best multisensory language, allowing easy understanding and application of physiognomy - the art of face reading! This book has taught appreciation for what I had previous labled as negative people. Problem finding and solving is a talent - the eyes will give you a clue! Read this great book and you will have the knowledge to appreciate your unique self and everyone you encounter!

4.0 out of 5 stars Will Keep You Coming Back, January 30, 2004

This review is from: The Power of Face Reading (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
Mrs. Rosetree does a great job at explaining really detailed and profound messages from what human facial features mean. Which is really hard to do. She gives life into areas where if they were explained any other way it would be hard to picture much less detail, specifically. The pictures aren't real live photos but the drawings are good to just give a general idea of certain areas. Celebrity examples help a lot because they are really easy to obtain their pictures and see the facial feature mentioned. You'll find yourself noticing face traits during the day while conversing with people. Face Reading is a great tool to know why exactly you picked your body and how to notice other people's talents as they relate to your own. Reading faces helps you better understand yourself and people you encounter. It's like reading a person's physical soul-make the physical part of their blueprint. It's always fun to test what you learn. It truly works and really is helpful.

Hopefully one day she'll put out another face traits book, just the little quirky things that are always nice to know but she has covered most of them. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost useless, May 1, 2005

The author tries so hard not to offend anybody, that she puts too positive spin on every possibly negative interpretation and overemphasizes what would already be considered as a positive one. Also, I found the most interpretations just inaccurate. Examples from nose chapter:
short nose - workaholic
long nose - talent for planning and strategy
straight nose - you work systematically
arched nose - creativity
...
Ok, of course you are supposed to interpret everything and put it all together, eliminating contradictions on the way, but the book falls short on instructions how to do that. There should be a chapter titled "putting it together" where the author should explain the process of face reading: what to look first? how to determine basic information about a person and go from there? Instead the book focuses on details without giving you the big picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful approach to the age old art of face reading, January 20, 1999
By
T Dane (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
As a physiognomist (face reader) I read every book I can find on face reading, but nothing I have seen comes close to The Power of Face Reading, except, perhaps, Rosetree's previous book, I Can Read Your Face.

Based on the premise that "God Don't Make No Junk," Rosetree's insightful, humorous, lively and, above all, loving, system of face reading is a welcome and refreshing approach to a subject so often treated in a negative and judgmental fashion.

The Power of Face Reading offers an easy to learn, invaluable tool for men and women desiring to know and appreciate one another, for salespeople trying to meet the needs of their customers, for parents and teachers wishing to understand and communicate effectively with children and teenagers discovering who they are and want to be - in other words, for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning About Ourselves, December 28, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Power of Face Reading (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
Rose is a rare individual who has refined and explainded the art of face reading for all to use to get to know others better and more quickly. She has taken an art form that has existed for thousands of years and made it available to all without years of tedious study. Her book is easy to read in sections or in whole. You can become a face reader to the extent you desire with this informative text guiding you in your progression.

I would recommend this book to any and all. It helps me to target my conversation to others in a manner that is tailored to their thought patterns, ability to process data, and their trust level. I would also recommend reading her Wrinles Are God's Makeup as a great foloow up to this great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful and Insightful, December 9, 2005
By
BFlower (Maryland, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Power of Face Reading (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
After reading The Power of Face Reading, I am shocked by the response from "Almost Useless". In her book Rosetree asserts that we all have various challenges as well as styles with which we excell at, and I think Rosetree does an excellent job of expressing our different styles for work, spending money, communication, etc. with great compassion and depth. This is not a "too positive spin on every negative interpretation"; it's more a realistic way of looking at our strenghts and weaknesses.

I also firmly disagree with "Almost Useless"'s assertion that some of the interpretations are "just inaccurate." I have done many readings after reading the book, for friends and people that I've just met, and everyone remarks how surprisingly accurate they are! Rosetree also points out that the traits of our face reveal our propensity for a certain style of being. We are all human and can choose to behave in other ways as we choose. Knowing what are preferences are can help us use them with more strength, and to also gain understanding for the strengths and propensities of others. Brilliant for relationships!

In terms of "putting it all together" for doing face readings, I found this to be no problem. Like I said, I started doing readings for friends and new people I met right away. Rosetree also explicity states to set an intention to be of service, and begin with the features that strike you the most, and then notice what you notice next and go from there. This is what I've adhered to and what has made my readings so successful.

Lastly, I would be cautious with the review titled "Gems for Tabliod and Intellectuals." I might chuckle at these having not read the book. Rosetree's book provides much more depth than these quotes reveal. The book shows us that there are many ways to be in the world, and the beauty is that we can choose. I find it powerfully useful to know my style preferences at my very core.

This book should be an enormous eye-opener to face your inner you. Rose is forthright with everything in this book (except with her picture on the back cover, which does not match her pictures on her website), and pointedly creates a reading flow that allows you to look in the mirror and apply the knowledge gained simultainiosly.
Read it, talk about it, and most of all enjoy it, for it is fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing insights, December 1, 2005
This review is from: The Power of Face Reading (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I found this book, like all the ones I've read by Rose Rosetree, to be witty, insightful, and very useful. When reading this book, keep in mind that reading faces isn't just a formula, which is a point that Ms. Rosetree makes. The whole face needs to be considered, since it is a reflection of the soul as a whole. I use face reading often, and it's amazing how accurate it is. In addition to the companion book WRINKLES ARE GOD'S MAKEUP, I strongly suggest reading AURA READING THROUGH ALL YOUR SENSES. Combining aura reading with face reading is a very powerful tool and provides a far more complete picture.
