Universal laws work for or against any one of us. A wise person becomes aware of these laws and makes them work favorably. That's the framework Dr. Peale establishes in the first chapter. He follows up in the next chapter by discussing how the plus factor can be linked with creative dreaming to make one's life more focused.
He tells how his own life has been positively changed by applying the principles contained in this book. He adds the stories of other people also.

I have always appreciated the writings of Dr. Peale. His many faceted discourses on faith and positive thinking has helped millions around the world. The Power Of The Plus Factor could be said to be a summation and exclamation point on all he had been saying through the years. He seeks to make it clear that there is that within each of us, from the Creator, that which when activated brings forth marvelous results. As with all of his books he cites scores of examples in the lives of people when the effects of the "plus factor" came into manifestation. Dr Peale says "one should never face a difficult problem negatively, never assume that nothing can be done about it(pg 215). If ever a minister of God helped the people, Dr. Peale was that minister. If man indeed bears the image of God, there is certainly more within him than we realize. Dr. Peale strives to bring these facts to our attention.
