This is by far one of my favorite albums,
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Forward (Audio CD)
In my mind, the greatest thing about this album is the expressions of shock it generates when people hear it for the first time. It cracks me up to play it for people, particularly those with negative stereotypical views of athletes. All of the tracks show a depth of perception for emotionally moving melody, that is only found in the greats, like Marcus Miller, Gerald Albright and others. What makes a song stand the test of time is a simple, sharp hook, and Wayman Tisdale delivers big time in that area. So he's not as technically proficient as Stanley Clark or John Patitucci(yet). So what? He clearly has what it takes to move people. And ultimately, that's what music is for. Wayman is sure to become one of the leaders in contemporary jazz.

Dribbling to center stage!,

From the basketball court to the stage, Wayman Tisdale dazzles his audience with his musical talent. "Power Forward" is not just a position on the court, it is an amazing debut masterpiece that illuminates the Power that comes from the Creator of talents.Tisdale performs tributes to his Lord ("Amazing Grace), family ("Gina Kay" and "Gabrielle"), and sports fans ("After the Game"). These jazz tunes will entice listeners to get up from the stands to celebrate life and love!

Wayman Tisdal is the best jazz artist out there. There just ain't no better. His music and style is unlike anything else I"ve ever heard. It's relaxing, but,for those of us who like the more urban sound, it's pleasing to the ear. I've been looking for other artists who sound anything like he does, but haven't found one yet. I think he should be teaching jazz, not just playing it. I own all three of his cd's. There's a song on them for every mood you could be in. I think his down-to-earthness is what keeps me listening. It's almost like one of my friends wrote the songs. Wayman is cold-blooded. When is he gonna make another one?!?!?!?!?!?!?1?!

This has been one of my favorite projects since it was originally released. Particularly the songs, "Jazz In You", "Back Home" and "Gabrielle". A really soothing piece of work. May the music of Wayman Tisdale live on and continue to soothe, comfort, entertain and minister.

Great Person,
This review is from: Power Forward (Audio CD)
Being from Oklahoma, I am fortunate to have shared in the life of Wayman Tisdale. 1st as a great basketball player, he gave us many thrilling moments. Then as a musician, his passion for life and the blues is evident in his music. Although he will be missed, he has left a lasting legacy in his music.

Great jazz, but not a great power forward,

At this point in his career, Wayman Tisdale is nowhere near a top power forward. Here are my top power forwards right now:
1. Tim Duncan 2. Kevin Garnett 3. Dirk Nowitzki 4. Amare Stoudamire 5. Pau Gasol Wayman Tisdale is really old and not very good anymore. I don't even know if he scored last season. He was good at OU when Steve Stumpanovich was at Mizzou and The legend was at NU, Dave Mutha F-ing Hoppen. To call this CD power forward is really a reach. I would have called it, "old guy on the bench that can play some jazza". |
