I'm somewhat of a penny-pincher, so I buy almost all of my books online. However, while taking lunch a local bookstore, I saw POWER, FREEDOM AND GRACE, by Deepak Chopra on the new release shelf and it caught my eye. I had a little time, so sat down with the book and a cup of coffee and read the first chapter. I was so impressed with some of the profound statements I read...

POWER, FREEDOM and GRACE is a fascinating, must-read book for anyone who is a fan of Deepak Chopra, and if you are not already a fan, you are sure to become one after reading this book. Every chapter starts out with a question, and the questions are ones we all want to answer at some point in our lives. "What do I want?, Who am I?, How do I participate in creating my reality?" Not only will you find the answers to these questions, but you will also acquire a whole new perspective of your reality and the world as you know it.
In Chopra's words, "Our real essence is a field of consciousness that is powerful, unbounded and free." Sounds good, but how does it work? With the findings of modern science and Chopra's extraordinary knowledge in the field of mind-body medicine, he expertly guides you on a journey of discovery of how we come into existence, create our reality, and are not separate from anything, but a part of all that is.
Chopra has left me with little doubt that we can all transform by "getting in touch with our inner self, the source of all being." And by transforming, what awaits me is "knowing true happiness, the intoxication of love, spirit flowing in its pure essence -- unimpeded, unrestricted, full of mystery, magic, and adventure."
This book is an adventure in itself and one that I will read over and over again. If you are going to buy a copy, you won't want to part with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Graceful, November 14, 2006
Humans suffer because we do not know who we are. We over rely on our senses thus the superstition of materialism as Deepak calls it that is, the lure of happiness from things and circumstance rather than from within. We are one with all life; the essence, One, Spirit, never changes. This book can help one burst through the delusions that grip our lives, the habits that lock us into ignoring cause and effect (such as human impact on climate,) and ignoring the miracle of life that surrounds us; we need to get back in synch with our essence. Spend time in nature to find the rhythm of life that flows like the water through all; feel the connection.

"Every decision we make is either a miracle or a grievance." From a Course on Miracles.

"Out beyond ideas of right doing and wrong doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." ~Rumi

I love the quotes and confidence with which Deepak writes he knows this is true and then we do by reading it and knowing from the knowing that is wordless; we are just forgetting the truth because we are sleepwalking or allowing the message machine to delude us further.

Stay in the moment; breathe out and in; "to be whole is to live in grace." Gratefully and Gracefully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Deepak Chopra & Happiness!, October 13, 2006
I want to make you aware of a new book written by Dr. Deepak Chopra, called: Power Freedom and Grace: Living from the Source of Lasting Happiness. This book was published by Amber-Allen Publishing, the same publishing company that published The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz. Dr. Chopra is an illimitable author of over 45 books, more than 100 audio, video and CD-ROM titles which have been translated into 35 languages with over 20 million copies sold worldwide.

I am so pleased that Dr. Chopra's latest book deals with lasting happiness. Dr. Chopra begins this book by relating a question he asked a sick patient at the beginning of his career as a medical doctor. "Why do you want to get better?," he asked. The male patient said, "Doesn't everyone who is sick want to get better? Dr. Chopra told him that is true but wanted to know why he wanted to get better. The man replied, "to make money!" Dr. Chopra asked him, why do you want to make money? The man replied, "So I can pay for my son's education, so he can have a successful carrier. After asking the patient this question repeatedly, the man finally said: "Because I want to be happy!" Dr. Chopra has asked the same question to many of his patients with the same answer.

Dr. Chopra writes: "Happiness seems to be the goal of all other goals, and yet most people seek happiness in a roundabout way. In 1999, I presented a class on Happiness at Sacred Heart University. I began the first session of each class by asking the students what was important to them. I would list everyone's comment on the black board. The answers included, money, family, security, health, and many more, then, I would go back to the person who raised the comment and ask them why it was important to them and how it made them feel. Every single person I have done this with inevitably has arrived at happiness, as their reason for valuing what they thought was important to them.

Dr. Chopra states: "Why not make happiness our primary goal? Why seek happiness through all these secondhand means?" The very first class at Sacred Heart University recognized the value of being happy and the importance of practicing this newfound power. On January 13, 2000, our first Happiness Club meeting was held as a result of the first class wanting to continue leaning about happiness and making it their primary goal in life.

I am delighted that Dr. Chopra has enlightened us toward a more accurate understanding of real and lasting happiness. As Dr. Chopra affirms: "...happiness for a reason is just another form of misery because the reason can be taken away from us at any time. To be happy for no reason is the happiness we want to experience."

Dr. Chopra affirms: "When our life is an expression of the inner state of happiness, we discover an immense reservoir of power within us. This power gives us the freedom from fear and limitations, and allows us to realize all the abundance that we aspire to." I have continually said that happiness is an issue of power. We are not speaking of the power we seek to have over others or in the world, but the authentic power we experience within ourselves. After all, my definition of happiness is: happiness is an inner state of well being. Happiness serves us as well in addition to being favorable to others. Real power is the emotional control we develop as a result of being aware of lasting happiness. I have repeatedly said that the opposite of happiness is fear. It is by embracing the state of lasting happiness that we can move into and experience genuine freedom.

Thank you Dr. Deepak Chopra for writing this book that shows us how to embrace our true nature. I am grateful that you show us the way to lasting happiness. Dr. Chopra said: "To find happiness is to find your soul." Make sure you read this book so you can begin to understand the importance and the value of lasting happiness and how you can bring this effect into your life now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Power Freedom and Grace, August 24, 2006
I just wanted to tell you what a profound experience I had reading Deepak's new book, Power Freedom and Grace. Deepak has a way of taking very complicated issues and making them understandable. Everything he says makes perfect sense, as if I already knew it, and this has given me a complete sense of calm. I love his quote about happiness: The only way to find lasting happiness is to stop looking for it and realize that you already have it. You would also not believe the synchronicities I have been experiencing since reading Power Freedom and Grace. Just yesterday I was annoyed that a car was holding up traffic, only to realize the license plate which read MORE JOY. I had to laugh!

5.0 out of 5 stars powerful stuff, November 8, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My first introduction to chopra was reading the seven Spiritual Laws of Success and after that I became an instant student of him. This new book Power, Freedom and Grace gave me such peace at the end of it, something that I forgott a long time ago. listening to your bodies's rythm, what is living in grace? meditation as the path to clarification, all that is empowering I recomend it over and over, plus i suggest reading osho and Tolle to have a further expansion of what awakening is, the danger of the ego and the happiness of enjoying your present moment, because when that click happens in you brain that gives the light to change your life forever, nothing will be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very compelling, November 2, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was so enveloping that I read it through 3 times. Of all of Chopra's books, I find this one to be one of his best. He gets at the source of our beginning and expounds on our consciousness. He draws new perceptions for us to investigate to bring some clarity to our own existance. His step by step analysis is most awakening and thought provoking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration for an inner path, January 15, 2007
Deepak writes as poetically as always about the valuable things in life; love, happiness and inner wisdom. For those on the path to inner wisdom this book is like a pearl which gives inspiration and faith along the way. The book is about the things we already know but what we always want to hear more, as a reminder about the existing good things and values in life. Recommend to anyone longing for a moment of encouragement in our hectic and sometimes messy life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Enjoy, February 6, 2007
I love Deepak Chopra's work, his mind and heart, and his passion for the world. Some of his books can be a little wordy and difficult to grasp at first glance. And when you do go deeper into his messages, they are well worth your time. Power, Freedom, and Grace is different. I find it filled with perfect bits of wisdom that help connect me with a sense of wholeness. I simply open the book to a page and goodness pops out at me. I like that. Of all his books I've read, I think I like this one best. Barbara J. Semple, author of Healing Touch Quick Steps® - Powerful Things You Can Do Instantly to Bring Your Body into Harmony
