Clearly a must have if you are into NWOBHM, February 14, 2004
This review is from: Power Games//Anthology (Audio CD)
These guys are amazing. I have had this album for a while, but I noticed that nobody had reviewed this album. This 2cd set covers about everything that the band Jaguar has recorded. The first disc has Power Games, which is a relentless heavy metal opus of early 1980s. The second half of disc 1 and first half of disc two contains the album This Time. This Time is a much mellower affair than Power Games but still great. It has been said before, but it bears repeating, This Time has held up quite well. It is simply softer than Power Games and more melodic- trust me, This Time is not some saucy English album with overt synthesizers and prancing theatrics! Rounding out disc 2 is Jaguar's reformation album of Jaguar, 2000's Wake Me. Wake Me has a new singer, but this guy is a screamer, great powerful voice. Wake Me was one of the best albums of 2000 for frantic metal. This album is classic, and it often feels like a relentless assualt on the senses. Buy it. Warning- there are a couple Jaguar cds for sale on Amazon that have been purchased by NWOBHM fans which I do not recognize. The only Jaguar LPs by the Bristol, UK band that I know of are Power Games, This Time, Wake Me and Run Ragged.

Another great Castle NWOBHM anthology, July 18, 2006
If you're a fan of the celebrated New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement, you have to love what the Castle/Sanctuary label has done to bring the most obscure NWOBHM bands' material back to life. Power Games - the Jaguar Anthology is a perfect example.
Jaguar was metal in every sense of the word. These guys wholeheartedly embraced the genre's high speed riffs and blazing solos as well as lyrical themes dealing with both dark fantasy and even darker reality. There's frantic, almost punk rock intensity to these songs, but they're polished enough to be in the same league as early Iron Maiden and Judas Priest material. The band's "hit" single Axe Crazy is a song that belongs on every NWOBHM sampler.
The good folks at Sanctuary have painstakingly compiled all of the available Jaguar recordings, cleaned up the sound considerably, and provided NWOBHM fans another must-have 2-disc anthology. You get all of the band's studio material - pretty much everything from Power Games, Wake Me, and This Time - digitally remastered, plus extensive liner notes, all for just a little more than the price of a single CD. Like all of the Sanctuary NWOBHM anthologies, it is well worth checking out, whether you're a die hard fan of that scene or you're just interested in checking out an overlooked piece of metal's history.
