4.0 out of 5 stars Why is SUZIE HOLD ON missing!
I must say that it's great that someone in the record industry finally came to and re-released this on CD, as it is one of my favorites, but am I the only one that has a completely ORIGINAL copy of this albumn? I purchased this albumn on tape, like the rest of Saxon fans, in the '80s, and "Midas Touch" is NOT on it. There is a version of "Suzie Hold...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but they've done better.
The title track to this album is my all-time favorite Saxon song, but I think "Wheels of Steel" is a much better album. Get that first, then move on to this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why is SUZIE HOLD ON missing!, May 6, 2000

I must say that it's great that someone in the record industry finally came to and re-released this on CD, as it is one of my favorites, but am I the only one that has a completely ORIGINAL copy of this albumn? I purchased this albumn on tape, like the rest of Saxon fans, in the '80s, and "Midas Touch" is NOT on it. There is a version of "Suzie Hold On" which is much better that the revamped version added to the Wheels of Steel/Strong Arm double CD. Where did it go? I am simply surprised no one has complained before now, but may I suggest all you die hard Saxon fans (like myself) dust off the old tape, give it a listen, and let the bitchin' begin! P.S. If anyone has the original version on CD, wanna get rid of it? I didn't think so.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome rock, November 28, 2002

i have been listening to saxon since 1982,and even though i have many different bands that i like, saxon enters my soul like no others.they play there music with passion that makes me feel like im there. i would have liked to have seen better consistency in there recordings as far as sound goes, but i will take what i can get. power, strong arm, wheels, denim and last but not least crusader are probably the best of the saxon collection. love the band, and i like to just let them rock!

This is a must-have in the metal community! The remaster sounds great & the tunes are awesome! I would also like to say that the person who made the comment about "Suzy Hold On" was right on the money! I too miss that track because that version is far superior to the earlier one. I think the reason for this is that it was only on the American album. "Midas Touch" was on it in the rest of the world (correct me please if I'm wrong). I am only glad to have a remaster of this at all. Looking for the new Crusader remaster out any day on Axekiller also! The Wolf

5.0 out of 5 stars LAST WORTHWHILE SAXON ALBUM !!!!, September 10, 2001

This review is from: Power & Glory (Audio CD)
This POWER AND THE GLORY is Saxon's fifth studio album, coming after SAXON, STRONG ARM OF THE LAW, WHEELS OF STEEL and DENIM AND LEATHER. It's better produced than the others, but without losing any of their aggressivity and creative inspiration to write perfect British heavy metal songs. In this one here, drummer Nigel Glockler replaced Pete Gill, who went away to play for MOTORHEAD. (wise decision, guy...). SAXON never again sounded so inspired or energetic like in this album. After this one, SAXOn slowly succumbed to pressure and tried hard to change their music to "Break America"... The result were a bunch of disspointing albuns, dressing themselves like American hair-metal bands and losing credibility to their old base of fans, without necessarily gaining new ones. ONly in the late nineties SAXOn returned with decent albuns like UNLEASH THE BEAST and METAL HEAD. They are not even remotely comparable to thei heyday, but are much better than the middle-eighties ... they released.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing SAXON ALBUM, September 10, 2001
This review is from: Power & Glory (Audio CD)
THe band was produced by Jeff Glixman, who had recently produced Gary Moore's CORRIDORS OF POWER. THE POWER AND THE GLORY is a majestic album, heavy, coeherent, agressive and well crafted. It was also their last great album.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE POWER OF GOOD MUSIC.., September 24, 2001
By

POWER AND THE GLORY can be rotuleated as "metal". And it is. First-class, old fashioned metal. But it's above all good music, good British rock, the kind of thing Americans can't compose.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Raw of Metal, November 3, 2000

This is by far one of the best Metal albums that came out in the '80. If you are a true classic Metal fan you need to own this raw, fast, and most excellent album, it is one of Saxon best LP's. Brilliant guitars, powerful vocals, and sheer speed.

5.0 out of 5 stars classic metal, October 12, 2000

Hello, I just wanted to say that this is definitely one great album, and I agree that The Eagle Has Landed is one of Saxon's best songs. If you've heard Metallica's The Outlaw Torn (from years later) it has alot of the same feel but Metallica are considered at least somewhat modern and Saxon are considered out of date. Go figure. They definitely should have left Suzy Hold On on the album. Thanks, Wayne

a good album, but one can already recognize the first symptons of Saxon tunring commercial. Nigel Glockler fits alright into the band, the songs ( albeit with great and first class production ) are not in the same league as the first albuns.
