Product Description

Power House provides an engaging introduction to regenerative energy sources while teaching basic concepts and principles in physical science. The kit focuses on the heat and light energy from the sun, the energy from the wind, as well as with electrochemical and plant energy. You will learn how to transform and use these forms of energy. With the Power House kit you can build a model house complete with solar panels, windmill, greenhouse, and desalination system. You can build and operate an electric train, windmill, solar cooker, solar hot water tank, hygrometer, electric motor, power hoist, sail car, and more! Plant watercress, prepare sauerkraut, and make chewing gum. Learn how plants convert sunlight into energy for your body and your engines. The thoughtfully designed series of experiments was developed by physicist Uwe Wandrey. Professor Wandrey creatively integrates physical science and technology lessons with the adventure of building a home and living on a remote island. To survive, you must learn how to harness the power of the sun and the wind as well as tap the energy of other physical forces. The storyline follows the experiments in a stepwise fashion. Easy-to-follow activities make it fun to build models and use them for your experiments.

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Richard Kelly on August 2, 2013
Nothing against this toy. The toy and the company that makes it are great.

However this listing is inaccurate. The images and description make it seem you're getting this product:
[...]

Note the 96-page manual, and the age range of 12 and over. This is the model I wanted, so I bought from this listing.

However, what I got in the mail was the cheaper version 2.0:
[...]

Note that this more limited kit has a 64-page manual, and an age range of 10 and up.

To get this settled, I had to pay return shipping, which at $15 was 16% of the cost of the item, even though ToySoup sent the wrong product.

Even now, more than a week after clearly notifying ToySoup, this listing still shows the wrong image and description.

Not recommended.

Two of my homeschoolers have worked on this kit. This is the second one we have had. Some parts are cheap, but they learn how to jerryrig it to work properly. The kit has good ideas that can be built on.
