5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful supplement to the Sedona Method tapes, April 18, 2004

This review is from: The Power Of Letting Go: A Practical Approach to Releasing the Pressures in Your Life (Paperback)
Hi friends:)
Carrington's book gives a wealth of ideas about releasing from the binds of emotionality. Very similar in content to the Sedona Method tapes, but gives ideas for "letting go" that make the Sedona tapes *much* easier to use.
For example, while the Sedona Method talks about letting go of fear, what happens if you can't? Sedona's solution is to keep asking yourself the question. Carrington's solution is to ask yourself if you could let go of 1% of the fear for just one second!
I also like Carrington's worldview. It is distinctly that of the earnest psychologist who tries to find the best in this method and use it. Contrariwise, the Sedona Tapes sometimes make me feel like I'm encountering a wise Buddhist master who I intellectually disagree with because of his worldview! I don't believe, for example, that it makes sense to come from the position that the Inner World is all! Tell that to the child who needs penicillin!
I'm a bit peeved with Carrington in that she does not mention the Sedona Method at all in her revised 1999 edition of this book, yet many of her words and phrases and ideas (*definitely* not all!) are precisely the same as on the Sedona tapes. Which came first? I don't really know, but I feel that in the 1999 edition, she should have mentioned the Sedona Method, even if her work predates it!
I intend to give a different review of this book in a month or two. Why? Because I ONLY READ 50 PAGES OF THIS BOOK YET I STILL RECEIVED FULL VALUE FOR WHAT I PAID--and the book has more than 250 pages in it!
I regard this book as a tremendously valuable adjunct to the Sedona Method tapes. I wouldn't want to be without either one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book to understand own thought processes, August 27, 1999

I started reading the book without any expectations and was amazed at how it made me understand myself and the tensions and "fights" I have within myself. The very practical means of achieving a "letting go" (or release) is very simple, yet very powerful. (One does, however acknowledge that one has to continually work on personal growth and that there are no "quick fixes": personal growth is not easy or simple.) Stephen Covey said in his book (7 Habits) to focus on the Circle of Influence on not the Circle of Concern. Although I believed this, I do not think that I was always succesful in achieving this. Dr. Carrington's book helped me to really grow as individual and be able to focus on my Circle of Influence. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and found it of great value.
