Stand Up and Be the Man You Were Created to Be

Rick Johnson tried to fake authentic manhood until he learned an important lesson: A man armed only with a fork in a land of soup doesn't fare very well.

God gave men incredible power in their masculinity. With humor and honesty, The Power of a Man shows men how to live a life of great significance and healthy masculinity in a world afraid of real men. Johnson demonstrates that

•Real men aren't passive--they wield positive influence to change the world.
•Real men don't quit, no matter how tough things get.
•Real men love, protect, and provide for their wives and children.
•Real men defy cultural expectations and live by a code of honor.
•Real men recognize that only masculinity bestows masculinity.

The Power of a Man is about being calm but confident, relaxed but prepared, kind but authentic, and bold but compassionate. It's about becoming the man you've always wanted to be--the man your world needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars The lost image..., September 21, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Power of a Man: Using Your Influence as a Man of Character (Paperback)
"The Power of a Man" is an easy to read book on what it means to be a man. In our day and age, we are constantly being bombarded by what it means to be a man. These messages are sometimes more confusing then helpful. What Rick Johnson is able to do in this book, is clear away the misconceptions and help men understand genuine manliness; not only to understand but to be proud of being a man. However, it also puts men to the task of taking responsibility for their actions. When men understand who they are, they no longer can excuse their poor decisions. Instead they have to take responsibility for the role and place that they are intended for as men.

A wake-up call for men everywhere, this book will change your life. I recommend this not only for men but also women who have lost focus with what the image of a man is supposed to look like. There is a generation of men and women who mistake manliness to mean oversexualized, physically abusive, unemployed, and undependable. Let Rick Johnson lead you through a journey of what it means to be a true man of character. You might just be amazed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hits the points about being a man today, March 15, 2009
This review is from: The Power of a Man: Using Your Influence as a Man of Character (Paperback)
This book truly nails it! There is something missing in today's society about being a man. The book unearths some of those missing elements, which all resides within all men. These are God-given traits!

It is an easy read, with some relevant examples that I believe every man can identify with. I went over this with a group of men at my church, and we were able to find common ground on what it means to be a man in today's world, and the importance we carry for the future of mankind.

We realized that we had more impact than we realized.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered., February 18, 2009
This review is from: The Power of a Man: Using Your Influence as a Man of Character (Paperback)
I have to say that this is a great book that really touches all the areas that men need to address in todays world. Rick writes in such a way that he draws you in and really makes you reflect on where you stand on the issues. Bold so you get the point but in a way that lets you know that all fathers go through the same difficulties. His openess about his life lets you see that he truly has first hand knowledge of the topics. I really believe that all fathers and husbands should read this book. You will come away refreshed.
