More About the Author

Tina Carreiro is a multi-published author who resides in South Florida with her family. At the young age of 15, Tina started working to help her family and became a jack-of-all-trades, working in many different areas from managing an automotive shop, to putting her computer programming degree to use. In 2010, she retired from her office job to live her dream and write. Her addiction to romance novels began at a young age when she started sneaking her mom's Gray Eagle series by Janelle Taylor, and it was then her love for writing began. Her paranormal romance series, Power of the Moon, has gained popularity amongst the fans of this genre. Tina became a co-host on Encounters Live, a paranormal radio show, in 2009. Open to all things paranormal, Tina has had her own encounters with the paranormal but still approaches the topic from a logical angle. Tina is married to her best friend and Encounters Live co-host, Matt Carreiro, and is a full-time cub scout/camping/gymnastic/PS3/Minecraft mom for her son and daughter. When not writing, Tina enjoys reading romance novels, zombie movies, restoring classic cars, camping, and coffee with caramel macchiato creamer. Poking fun at herself, and everything in between is her key to laughter and a long and healthy life.

Move over Stephanie and Charlaine, make room for Tina. Sookie, Bill, Eric, Edward, and the rest of the other vampires can move aside. Cole Barnett is in town. Power of the Moon is absolutely fantastic. I gave it 5 stars because I could not give it higher!!! I had a hard time putting it down to do anything. My house is a mess, my family is hungry, but I am too wrapped up in Mia and Cole to deal with it right now. Cannot wait for book 2. Please, please say this is going to be a series.

Ms. Carreiro knows how to bring the heat in her first paranormal romance novel. I had to fan myself a few times and get a glass of water! Do yourself a favor and download Power of the Moon right now!

There was something in this storyline about a young woman who has always felt different and misunderstood and a vampire who senses that she is the one he has been searching for to fill the void in his undead life that captured me.

This is the first book in the series and I can't wait to read the next one! When a book is able to keep me so glued to the pages that it keeps me up past my bed time and I find myself thinking about the characters and the situation they are currently dealing with during the middle of the day then I know it is a great indication to me that this is a great book.

There is so much happening in this book that it is difficult to know where to begin to describe what makes it fabulous. Lets start off with the characters Cole and Mia. The author does an amazing job in creating characters that are not only so well described that you can visualize them so clearly in your mind, but with personalities with such depth and emotions you feel that you truly know them and connect with them on a personal level.

What can I say Cole is a damn sexy vampire who is so hot to look at and so damn charming that he can make a woman have an orgasm just by looking at her.

Mia is a woman who has an unusual gift that makes her different from everyone else and based on her past experiences in relationships it makes it almost impossible for her to give herself completely and put her trust in others.

What brings these two together is a series of usual deaths that Mia has accidentally learned is the work of vampires. The next thing Mia finds out is she is being brought into a world she never knew existed and a passion she doesn't know she can give into.

Power of the Moon is the story of Miakoda Starr (Mia) who has special powers that she really doesn't understand yet. She is witness to a vampire 'attack' on a friend that comes into her store regularly and as a result needs to be questioned by the Police... enter, tall, dark and handsome Cole Barnett. Cole is sent to take a statement from Mia, and from their first meet there is an instant attraction between them. This is not, however, your quick get together type romance, and Mia plays very hard to get, which makes for an interesting and alluring story.

Well the first thing I have to get off my chest about the book is that Mia just wound me up right to the end, but yeah I did end up liking her, and her character grew a lot which I like in a story!! Can a poor guy try any harder? Cole restrains himself, respects her, gives her space whenever she needs it, cares for her and wants to look after her, and she just kept throwing it back at him!! I truly felt like telling him to just forget her, come round my house Cole, I'll have ya any day LOL!. I did understand her previous hangups and that she was frightened of him, (and in all fairness he was a bit scarry at times), but how can you be frightened one minute and have his hands down her pants the next.....that girl has issues! As much as that might all sound negative, however, it totally isn't, it kept me on the edge of my seat wanting them to just get it on! All the angst and sexual tension was just exhilirating and HOT, HOT, HOT, and kept me wanting more.

I also thought there were great secondary characters in the book, I particularly loved Mia's mother, Sharon, who was so funny and down to earth, and Cole's Police Boss, John was great.

I loved this book! It was a refreshing approach using some Native American elements in the story, which I enjoyed very much. The heroine, Mia, is not a whiny damsel in distress type, either, which was a big plus in my opinion. I liked that Mia developed her own powers..she's not all helpless when it comes to needing Cole to rescue her all the time, she can hold her own. The ideas the author used for weapons and 'wardrobe' were awesome. The way Mia learned more about the NA legend/heritage at the end was great, I'm looking forward to learning more in the next book for sure! I liked how Ms. Carrerio has the supernatural/human law enforcement task forces arranged as well. I'd also like to add that I am a Lab Tech who has worked in hematology, coagulation, pathology, and blood banking since 1995, and all of her technical stuff to do with blood and the ME office is really accurate. She really did a great job on her research! I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series...
