the songwriting, musicianship, and production are all show more maturity than this group's first two albums. First, the songwriting: as the earlier reviewer indicated, the writing covers a pretty wide range, considering these guys are still basically a garage/punk trio from new jersey. Some of the songs are catchy, some of them have hooks, and some of them are just straight ahead energy. Second, the musicianship: The drum and bass lines are a little more demanding and intense than the earlier albums, and the guitar playing... well it can't get any better. Marissa Paternoster (vocals, guitar) is just a phenomenal guitar player, with the sensibility to still keep her solos short and to the point, so that they don't butt in to the narrative arch of the song (it's still punk, not classic rock). And finally the production: they're on a little bit more of a label these days, and it shows. Whereas the first two albums just sounded like good clean rehearsal recordings, this one actually sounds like they spent some time in a studio. Nothing tasteless, just good.Overall this is the group's most musical and interesting album to date - i can't wait for the next one. ps, holy crap go see these guys live.

If you think of The Screaming Females three full length albums on a line measuring intensity. "Baby Teeth" is on the left and "What if Somebody is watching their TV?" is way out to the right. From that album the lead singer underscores in triplicate the name of this band. This latest album sits in the middle. The new tracks Bell and Sour Grapes share a intensity lineage with the tracks on "Baby Teeth". The other tracks are blend of the previous two outings. Baby Teeth remains at the top of the list for me. However, "Power Move" has some tasty ear candy for you to feast on.

A lot of fun. Sounds like what it is, a New Jersey garage punk band. Catchy enough that this album will have some replay value as well. A cool band but they may just be passing like the rest.
