5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant Mindfulness
I don't use this book much, but it's a keeper. At first, I felt kind of silly using the mudras. I've been a yoga practitioner for about ten years, but just sitting still with my hands in sometimes awkward positions made me ask if I was doing anything worthwhile. However, I'm someone who has always had a hard time with meditation. I simply can't sit still for any period of...

I have to admit, I don't use mudras much, but I am intrigued by the idea. This book presents MANY different mudras and has great illustrations to go with them. Very easy to follow. I would have liked more explaination on how and why they work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant Mindfulness, January 9, 2005

I don't use this book much, but it's a keeper. At first, I felt kind of silly using the mudras. I've been a yoga practitioner for about ten years, but just sitting still with my hands in sometimes awkward positions made me ask if I was doing anything worthwhile. However, I'm someone who has always had a hard time with meditation. I simply can't sit still for any period of time without becoming fidgety or falling asleep. I gave up a long time ago and switched to moving meditations such as yoga and walking.

This technique is remarkably similar to NLP (neuro linguistic programming) yet if Mesko mentions this I somehow missed it.

Mesko provides a mudra for nearly every situation or emotion imaginable. Illustrations are clear, which is a good thing because a few of her written instructions are not. The cover and illustrations within the book are elegant with a mystical feel. Even if you decide not to practice the mudras, the positive affirmations accompanying each one are inspirational, uplifting and empowering. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Found My Happy Place!, September 9, 2010

Last night I used this book for the first time. Empowered, peaceful, happy & beautiful is how I felt after doing about six mudra exercises at 3 minutes a piece. I couldn't believe I could feel so good doing something so simple. My spine felt straight and strong when the practice was complete(I was slouching before). Other reviewers said the pictures were hard to see but I had no problem and was content with the photographs. If you get this book and do not like the layout then find a book you do like because mudra practice is too nice to be missed in my opinion. I'm on a quest to better care for myself and this book was in line with that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Authentic Mudras, August 27, 2011
This review is from: Power Mudras: Yoga Hand Postures for Women (Paperback)
As most materials from the earlier book "Healing Mudras" from the author is included in this book plus a lot of additional materials you better buy this one. I counted 80 mudras with full-page illustrations of the mudras - as well as the rest of this beautiful girl.

Most of the mudras appear to be authentic from the Kundalini Yoga tradition of Yogi Bhajan. It is described in detail how to perform each mudra together with accompanying chakas, colours, mantras and affirmations. After trying the mudras a few years I can assure you that they work for men as well. The speciality with these mudras is that they work very quickly - often in a few minutes. The price appears to be reasonable for such a nice and clear representation of mudras. This book is a must for every student of mudras. The only thing I miss is some more detailed explanations of what the mudras actually does.

This book is glamourized and lacking important information to back up mudra practice. I sent it back.
